There's a 17gb hdtv version on RuTracker
I think it's the same I was talking about into post #72; are you able to transfer it on PC?

Anyone here remember the open matted (super35) transfer that was shown on HBO years and years ago when HBO first went High Def? I had it on DVHS for years and do not recall it being green.
It would seem that would be a great transfer to source video from.
I think it's available on RuTracker. I'll check tonight.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

WARNING! I'm pretty sure the file on rutracker is a re-encoded version! Infact, it's X264, while the original, AFAIK, was mpeg2.

Yes
true it's AVC/x264, 1920x1080 (16:9), 13900kbps, 23,976fps
The version on RuTracker has some framerate glitches and missing ending credits unfortunately...

So did you get rid of the DVHS?

Yes, on the bay but nobody is seeding.

No i found it some where else but just checked and no seeds there either.
Two more notes on subtitles: First, the "Finnish" subtitle here is actually the French commentary subtitle. Both start with "F", just a typo. Second, the style of most of the subtitles is decidedly weird (no fault of Andrea's, they're from the BD). It's as if they rendered their initial subtitles as white-fading-to-transparent-around-the-edges, and then someone noticed you couldn't see that very well against a white background--so instead of making them white with a black border that fades to transparent around the edges, they took the existing subtitles and added a black border around the existing transparent border. Ugh, looks really strange.
Okay, I'll stop ranting about subtitles now. If anyone has BD chapter stops, let me know.
...another flaw... (^^,) yes, it's my fault, I mistyped it on TSmuxer... but you know, I'm getting old, and sight is not the same of the time I was young...
about subtitles quality, it seems that they are upscaled from 720x480 - as they imported them from the ones made for DVD... don't know exactly if it's true, I'm not the subtitle man, you are!
Changing topic...
SOUNDTRACKS!
if someone has the german soundtrack, I would like to know if wants to share it, as it will be included in the next version instead of the four commentary.
plus, I remember, IIRC, that the DVD (and LD) soundtrack (the english one, at least) is different from the BD; is it confirmed?

I wonder if this is the same thing that is on Usenet -- search for Matrix 1080i. It's 10 gb as well as says it's the open matte version w/ original color timing and Russian audio only.
The original 10GB 1080i is also on RuTracker in three parts and is still seeded I believe. Although, the only track is Russian. The original DVD's audio syncs to it though without any re-encoding.

Can't find it... if you have the links PM me please :)

I had it on DVHS for years and years and unfortunately I gave it away when the Blu-Rays were announced. I naturally regretted it once I saw how green they were.
Same thing happened with BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA. I wanted to kill someone!
Damn, that sucks Matt

I agree! It could be really helpful to use it in a 2.0 version...

I can, but I'd have to wait until tomorrow or Sunday.

That's alright, take your time.
Thanks AntcuFaalb
Well, since it looks like a v2 may actually happen, would anyone be interested in repositioned subtitle files? I've positioned everything (AFAICT) so that it's more clearly CIH-safe and type-safe (even further into the image than they already are, sorry Andrea :-/ ), and fixed the two mangled Japanese subs.
I can't guarantee I didn't miss something, since I mostly just bulk-converted and spot-checked them. But since Andrea prefers subs outside the picture, he may not want to incorporate them at all.
I'm considering using an accurate 35mm grain plate (5-or-so seconds long, on loop) in softlight-overlay to mask the macroblocking I see here and there.
The macroblocking, surprisingly, isn't bad on this version of The Matrix (the open matte 1080i HDTVrip), but it looks so much better with the 35mm grain plate. It hides the small bit of macroblocking really well.

The question is: does it more-or-less grain-match the existing project? Considering the final v2 may mix-and-match sources, it'd be nice if they blended seamlessly.
