This will be my first Star Wars film (other than Rogue One I guess) that I’ll be watching without reading spoilers.

Does this mean Luke will die after training Rey? Or is “The Last Jedi” a reference to Luke himself?

Where in TFA have you seen that Rey needed any training ?

Seems obvious. But Return of the Jedi refers to Anakin and not to Luke, so there could be another meaning, however I doubt it.

When she needed 3 tries to use a mind trick and she had difficulty doing a Force Pull on an item as small as a lightsaber. Overpowered or not she needs refinement.

Exactly. I don’t think it was very Jedi like how she chased Finn with her staff without even knowing if he was guilty or how she looked at Kylo after defeating him. She also needs to learn how to properly use her powers for the betterment of the Galaxy.

Jedi could be singular or plural. So ‘The Last Jedi’ could refer to both Rey and Luke and even others as a group.

So she needs guidance and teaching, not real training. Pretty much aligned with what is seen in the Original Hexalogy (and CW/TCW/Rebels).

She needs that too. Until she can do shit like lift an X-Wing with the Force she needs training. Hell, her even beating Kylo Ren in completely neutral circumstances may be enough.
