The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966) remastered mono track (for 4K restoration + Mondo IT) (Released) — Page 5

Well, now that's how it's done nowadays. Instead of making a replacement program, Fox just silently replaced the audio and issued a new batch of discs. Bravo.

Needless to say, they only released it in USA. Whoever bought the UK, German or other edition is still stuck with the horrible downmix.

I would like to have a copy of the fixed 4K BluRay mono AC3 though.

This is a little bit off topic, but I'm curious. How was the music handled at the end of the film in theaters?

On the MGM disc the music continues after "the end" over the modern extended credits. On the Mondo, the music sort just abruptly fades out after "fine." Was it like this in the theatrical version or did it continue over a blank screen?

Star Trek: The Motion Picture DE - The Anti-DNR Fanedit
Duel (1971) - The Hybrid Cut
The Phantom of the Opera - 1925 Version Reconstruction - Rare Scores Collection - Roy Budd Score

For the International Cut the music continues after "the end" and fades to black.

This is for the theatrical presentation.

Good news for people living in Europe (Region B Blu-ray) who want to have the original Mono!

I own the new 2014 4K remastered german Blu-ray and it has the original mono too, not only the new US release.

It has English DTS-HD MA 5.1 and English DD 1.0 Mono and it's not a downmix, I compared the 1.0 Mono to the 5.1 DTS-HD Ma and it's totally different.

I watched the entire movie with this track and yes, it's untouched.
The Mono-sound sounds thinder and has NO added gun-shot sounds or other newly added sound effects!

Thanks for the info.

Does that make the early releases with the downmix mono a "collector's item"?

LOL

If that were true, we'd all have a lot of "collector's items". ;) I wrote Foxconnect again to see if I can swap my set disc or entire set, as I already had the old discs-still nothing.

 When did you buy it?

I know where I can buy it. I'd like to know when. :)

I finally bought the new US master, single disc edition last week. I didn't even realize it had the original mono on it until after I muxed it with TheHutt's file and came here again. I've only watched it with TheHutt's audio so far and it sounds awesome. Thanks for making this available!

Well, I guess that makes my audio rather redundant. :)

Not your mondo sync. It's wonderful. Definitely the best way to watch the film. Actually, if the extended scenes are now dubbed differently, it would be neat to see the mondo sync with the new changes.

The Phantom of the Opera - 1925 Version Reconstruction - Rare Scores Collection - Roy Budd Score

We should welcome the fact that somebody seems to be listening to film lovers who want the original mono.

However, the yellowish tint is still there, and thus the definite need for TheHutt's mondo sync, and we are grateful for his work.

Does anybody know whether the Italian version with the new cover is the same desirable mondo video?

@TheHutt: Can you help me get access to your sync?

Yes it is but it's region locked.

Can anyone pm me links to the mondo mono? Pm'd TheHutt weeks ago but it seems he's not logging in anymore.

Same here, TheHutt does not seem to answer.... can anybody direct me to the synch? Thanks so much....

I think ultimately every release becomes redundant at one point or another. Doesn't take away the fun of the process of actually creating them though. That's how I choose to see it anyway. :)

I've received the new US single blu-ray release of TGTBATU with the new mono track, it'll be interesting to see whether it can be used to fix some of the audio issues that remain of the PCM mono track you created.

This is great, I plan on making an ultimate TGBU for personal use soon.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Congratulations! I'd also recommend the German BluRays of FOD and FAFDM, as they have English lossless mono audio and (as far as FAFDM is concerned) are completely uncut.

considering the original mono is only DD 1.0 at 192 Kbit/s, is TheHutts track maybe better at some places?

mono lossless for the mondo release will just make my day. pm sent.
