Info Wanted: The Force Awakens - Theatrical Version, any changes?

Not sure if this has been the topic of discussion yet, but does anyone think The Force Awakens will undergo changes between now and April for its home video release like the previous Star Wars films?
While it’s true Lucas isn’t involved with this one, lots of movies still undergo some changes, however minor, before reaching the home video market.

Would it be worth preserving a theatrical cut of the film in the future if this becomes the case? Only time will tell, obviously, but I think it’s an interesting topic. Next to Revenge of the Sith this could end up the least tinkered with.

JJ Abrams doesn’t change his movies after their theatrical releases AFAIK

I am just hoping for some extra scenes. At least “deleted scenes” in bonus materials. To be honest… I could’ve stayed in my seat for 30min longer watching TFA.

My reaction while watching was, “Okay, we’re probably 15% through and they haven’t screwed it up, that’s great… Okay, we’re 30%, 60% and it’s still great, this is going to be a solid SW film… oh shit oh shit this has to end at some point.”

Edit: Also, JJ said there will be 10-20 minutes of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray.

I hope those 10-20 minutes of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray will be fully finished with the special effects. I’m really wanting an Extended Edition Cut for The Force Awakens on a custom Blu-ray from someone here on OriginalTrilogy.com

Me too, that would be awesome! I hope the deleted scenes don’t contradict any scenes in the movie though.

The BluRay version will be much more orange and teal than the theatrical =)

Maybe Lucas manages to smuggle in some “changes” into the Blu-ray Version … digitally replacing the charred helmet of Darth Vader with a wooden picture frame containing an image of Anakin Skywalker as a nine year old boy.

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

As what ive heard from news articles, the film was totally finished but the cut was way too long for the Cinema, so they just cut out the snowspeeder chase, some political exposition with Leia and Kylo on the Millenium Falcon for the final cut

There are other cuts, though. They decided it was silly for Maz to leave with the crew, so some of those resulting scenes are cut. If we only get those later scenes back, but not the ones with her leaving that planet (were they even rendered?), a ‘complete cut’ can’t really use that cleanly.

They seem to have inserted the dumb garbage chute joke late in the game, as Phasma had some scenes after that which had to be cut due to the inclusion of the joke, according to Christie (or was it JJ?)
