The Evil Dead - From Cabins to Castles edition (* unfinished project *)

My ultimate cut of the evil dead movies, all edited into one movie, with the credits all put at te end with 3 songs from the musical playing over them. I used the HD transfers of 2 and 3, and the best quality I had of the first one. i created a brand new opening intro for the movie, features the book of the dead floating over the red sea with the interlude “book of the dead” from the play going over it and leading into the movie.

i’m compiling a group of extras including:

interview from 1981 with bruce and rob

trailers for all 3 movies

making of’s

and i’m compiling a booklet of interviews and other such things for the blu ray too.

I’ve also made a custom made cover for this edition, using the thai poster, re editied and color corrected, and the poster they used for the grindhouse release at the alamo.

i’m trying to think of some other special features or cool things, but am having trouble, so any idea’s would be great.

the problem i’m having now is burning the actual blu ray for my tv. the files are in .MOV format because I edited it using quicktime. and the first move is a different aspect ration than the second, so it transfers over between 1 and 2.

could anyone burn me the blu ray? i would pay for the disc and shipping, and let you have one too.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

overall I feel this is my perfect version of the evil dead trilogy.

I personally think CLP did the best Evil Dead Trilogy, although it was DVD not Blu, but very well done with perfect menu's and such.

you provide the discs and whatever else needed I can burn Blu's, what size is this project? so you have the BDMV & CERTIFICATE folders already to be burned?

Also what was the source for the first 1, there were HD sources for this to, and it is available on Blu now also, so hopefully you did not use upconverted SD for ED1 and HD for the other 2.

I'm sorry, i'm very very new to this video editing thing. so far all I have are MOV. files of the movie and all the bonus content. i'm not sure how i need to present them in order to burn them to a playable blu ray. could you possibly help me with this?

it all flows together well. i had a friend rip the blu rays for me because my macbook isnt blu ray combatible, and at the time I did not have the blu ray of tHE evil dead.

Well you are going to have to encode to Blu-ray first, a lot of people use MeGUI with the x264 codec to encode, all freeware, because I highly doubt the way you have it now will play on a Blu-ray player or the PS3.

Ok, i'll start to work on that tomorrow. thank you very much for that info. all this is just confusing the hell out of me.

As a big fan of all 3 Evil Dead films, I am excited about your project. I have a few ideas, and some questions:

1. This would probably take a lot of work, but you might want to rotoscope or somehow add blood into the Army of Darkness segment. If it were done right, this could help with continuity and make it somewhat more enjoyable for those who prefer the first two movies.

2. I am unclear about whether or not you're using an HD scan of the first Evil Dead. After all, a review on a Blu-Ray site says that the first one is actually a better transfer than #2.

3. Please, oh please use the S-Mart ending! I like it much more than the other one. (Maybe you could include the other one as a special feature, though..)

4. I'm also using a Mac. (EDIT: Not anymore, but I can still work with QuickTime encoding sometimes.) Disk Utility can make iso files. I don't remember exactly how, but Google probable does. :-)

Thanks for reading my first post, and good luck with this cool project.

Screen grooming.  A most underrated activity. - hairy_hen

Wow I love your ideas ThiefCobbler4Ever! That would be awesome. Also, has anyone thought of recoloring the blood in Evil Dead II to be blood red? Has someone recolored the Evil Dead II blood in another edit? Not to get too off-topic, but I remember that some time ago I made several edits of Evil Dead: an extended version of the first one, an extended version of the second one, a "horror-cut" of the second one with new blue color timing to make it look like the old Japanese laserdisc of the first movie, and a "horror-cut" of the third movie. Anyway, good luck in making this ripperbrown! I can't wait to see the finished result.
