Were there any moveon.org people passing out flyers at the movie??

Sorry to disagree with you again Shimraa, honestly its nothing personal

But I thought that was the biggest load of utter predictable cheese bollocks I have had the misfortune of sitting through.

I should have learned my lesson after ID4 & Godzilla & star gate but nope........duped by a nice trailer & the prospect of a groovy disaster movie I went along & was sooooo disappointed. The action sequences you see in the trailer are pretty much the exact length they are in the film!!!

I'm going to see Harry Potter tomorrow, lets hope that provides a bit of entertainment!

OOO..one last thing saw new trailer for Spiderman 2, looks totally awesome! Cant wait

& trailer for Thunderbirds...................

Looked really really good until...the kid arrived

you didnt like ID4 either man oh man, i guess it just wasn't your type of movie. i admit the movie was predictable but there was alot that wasnt predictable.

spoilers:
the president dieing, how the storms worked and just in genral the minor things in the story. i admit with wasnt the best movie personally i give it 3 out of 5 or 2.5 out of 4. and for once it diidnt really have a happy ending where through some super nuclear power they were able to reverse to storm and make every thing normal again. the other scary thing is that so mush of the book was based on accepted science theory on the worlds climate, and what is actually happening int he world today, the political scene, the climate scene. io was shocked that they even mentions the geniva conference. overall though the movie had a sub-par story, the effects, acting, background info and the genral reaction of the world were very good and made up for it.

based on science theory...

I have to run over that in my head several times...

Perhaps that should be cleared up.
IF the world's currents stopped, then I agree that stuff could happen.
But, from what I've read, the world's current's couldn't stop unless the world stopped spinning or the wind system died. And I think if the world stops spinning, we have more to worry about than a little bad weather.

I'd also like to enlighten anyone that might not know...
Who are the author's of that book?
Art Bell and Whitney Strieber.

One of Whitney's other books is called Communion and says that he was told by aliens about Earth's apocalypse.

And Whitley Streiber's Communion was made into a very funny movie around 1989-90.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

art bell is someone would would kinda know about these things his show is all about science and he has talked to and intervveiwed a large number of scentists on the matter. and it is a fact that the atlantic current is weaking. in the movie they had to say it just stopped so that they could have a movie over the span of days or weeks rather then decades. same thing in his novel.

My brother in law who really doesn't have much in the way of discerning taste regarding movies said the SFX were cool, but the movie itself really sucked. No story whatsoever. Kinda confirmed my fears. I'll be avoiding it.

Well I suppose I'll go and see it.

Too many films I keep missing out on.

Dunno about HP, liked the books, don't much like the films.

Can't wait for Spidey 2 though, love the first film!

boosk when you do see it then make sure you watch it in a home theater. all the movie has really got going for it is the effect that it gives you.

Or, to make this threat appropriate to this thread... I'm gonna bitch slap you from here to the day after tomorrow.

That works nicely, doesn't it?

that was brillent. rminds me of the joke aobut bush saying that inorder to stop forest fire that they need to chop down the forest.
Author
Time
Whether or not Bush said that, I don't know...
but that isn't a joke.

The massive California fires last summer were mostly caused by environmentalists, in a round-about-way.

The government wanted to go in and remove "old-growth" trees. That being dead trees that haven't fallen yet. Environmentalists fought against the action, stating that the government would be killing squirrels and bird and such that nested in the trees.

Now, dry and dead trees burn a lot easier than growing, live trees. If the dead trees had been removed, they fire would not have spread so quickly.

you should understand that i live in BC and so i know a thing or two about forests. old growth forest rely on those dead trees to fertalise the ground and offer shelter for younger trees, and animals. with out dead trees like them the fertility of the soil would fall steaply and the forest would die altogether. another thing to remeber is the forest fires are natureal ad they art actually good for forest because they clean them and also re juvinate the grounds. aces are very good for growing new trees.
