I love it when a plan comes together!

Believe it or not I only just started watching this show, in spite of growing up in the 80's. They don't make 'em like that anymore!

I just hope some stupid Hollywood producer doesn't try to make A-Team into a feature length film. They really ruined everything about Duke of Hazzard to me. But, yeah, A-Team does rock!

Dukes of Hazard... Charlie's Angels... Mission Impossible... the list goes on and on. It is only a matter of time before they nail Night Rider and the A-Team. None are safe from the wrath (or better greed) of the Hollywood producer!

I pity the fool... who ends up playing BA on Mr T's place.

Perhaps Mr. T will be in it. Seems pointless to make a big screen version and not to include Mr. T.

Damn, now I believe the time has come for me to arm up and go to Hollywood.

I can't imagine the movie being worse than the series.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.

The series was great, but I think it would be nearly impossible to re-create it for a movie. Of course, it kinda sounds like from the IMDB page that it might not be in production yet, so it hopefully this film won't ever see the light of day.

IMHO the only way to handle a film version of an old TV show is the way the first Brady Bunch movie was made. It was evocative of the series to a fault, but irreverant and ironic at the same time. I actually loved the way they handled it - they honoured the original series, but did some really weird, sublime things like having Alice on screen in an S&M costume for a fraction of a second to make you laugh, and I think it worked.

There really is nothing to be gained from making a film based on a TV series unless they try and look at the source material in a different way while remaining "true" to the spirit of it, rather than making a 120 minute episode with the hottest actors de jour.

Yeah, The Brady Bunch Movie was great because they realized what made the series great to a modern audience: the retro feel and the simple wholesome morals and comedy and juxtaposed it with the real world. The Bradys' world didn't change at all. Their house and attitudes were stuck in a time warp. Even the exterior was a set just like the original series. But then they escape into the real world. Everything about them remains the same, but it allows the movie to poke fun at how different they are to everyone else. I particularly like the scene where Cindy's ball bounces into the Dittmeyers' yard, a clear example of the dividing lines between worlds, so to speak. On her side of the fence is the Brady yard set, but as soon as she steps through the gate, there's loud music (which wasn't at all audible before) and, look, we're actually outside!

Ah, I love that movie and its underrated sequel, A Very Brady Sequel.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

The Brady Bunch movie was good, however it set a bad precedent of turning remakes into comedies, with the exception of Miami Vice. I realize the show was very light to begin with, but the last thing we need is Ben Stiller as Face or Will Farell as Murdoch.

Am I the only person who enjoyed the Leave It to Beaver movie? It's been a while since I've seen it, but I always found it quite entertaining.

I have to agree with this. It seems like TV show based movies have to be parodies of the TV show and make fun of it. I could see them casting Leslie Neilsen as Hannibal and turn it into a slapstick comedy, making sure to make fun of the fact that everyone is blasting away with a machine gun, but noone ever gets shot. One of the few remakes they did that was done seriously was the Mission Impossible series. If they insist on doing this, please don't make it a cheesy parody.

I think most of the ones they turn into parodies were originally comedies or at least somewhat kitschy anyway, while at least most of the dramas don't try to take it in a horribly different direction.

Actually, I think Neilsen would have been ideal for Hannibal about 10 years ago, played straight (well, with a little comedy).

What remake of a non-comedy has been turned into a comedy?
