T2 was on SyFy last night, and I was looking at your version around the same time. Your version's color grading looks better than the official transfer that was playing on TV. Kudos!

Have you done anything on the color timing for Terminator 2 ? Or is it the direct copy of the Japanese edition?

What a treat to ear the CDS mix, as you call it! It seems to be the same one I have had on the French theatrical version DVD from the Ultimate Edition released by Studio Canal back in the day, and it's so much better. Way more rear effects and music better spatialized for instance. It feels like a real 5.1 mix. I don't understand why they had to do a new mix in Dolby EX and dts-ES. This CDS is the one that should have been presented on Blu-ray in dts HDMA/Dolby TrueHD. The only effect that's amplified in the rear channels for the better, I think, in the EX/ES mix is the shooting on our faces by the endoskeleton in the introduction set in 2029.

The color is just slightly warmer and balanced, with emphasis on slightly. The brightest highlights were a bit blown out so they were carefully balanced in brightness, to make the highlight detail more visible while removing some of the blown out look.

T2 is the best it has ever looked, and what you did with a modest LD capture of the guns and roses video was amazing.

Bravo guys

are the Terminator 1.0 and 2.0 PCM tracks both the original mono track, one time with 1 channel, the other time with 2 channels? or is the 2.0 track a real stereo track?

btw. gj with the high video bitrates. the bitrate of T1 is ~same bitrate as the source was and the bitrate of T2 is even higher than that of the source. really needed to preserve the best possible PQ.

regarding T2: which source did you use, the JPN BD? isnt that BD the DC version of the movie?

is the video bitrate of this BD 21939 kbps of the DC?

in case its this edition, from what Ive read the best PQ of the theatrical cut is still supposed to have the french studio HD DVD and for the DC the spanish Studio canal HD DVD(/BD?). the JPN BN has some edge enhancement compared to the Studio canal and is supposed to have a slightly worse AR stretch/crop.

not meant as complaint or anything, just as a hint that there might be even a tiny bit of room for improvement if you or anyone else feel like getting the very best result possible.

The aspect ratio was fixed, and my Video Guy said this is the best source and I fully 100% trust him and no one else, so this release is what it is and is done, we do not revisit projects like so many others do, once done we are done and move on, if you like something else better you can always remux that video into our release and replace our video, to most, if not all, this IS the best T2 has ever looked so far.

*edit, I have the HD DVD of this and we did compare so you know.

I thought exactly the same thing about the Jap video been the best due to been sharper than the rest. After reading all these comments on other forums about the slight edge enhancement, I,m in two minds now whether it is the best or like lightsabre has mentioned if the French and Spanish Hddvd encodes are better due to no edge enhancement.

Like I said, I have that HD DVD and You_Too said that video was not needed, I trust him over everyone else here, not everyone is going to like everything we do, so feel free to remux out our video with your own if needed, BD-RB will do this for you very easily.

Thanks

Like I said, I always thought the Jap video was the best, and it's nice to get a bit of reassurance from someone in the know that this is the case, so I will be sticking with your amazing encode once I can get my hands on it which hasn't been easy to say the least.

nah that would be pointless. then I can just watch the normal BD. as I said, the result is really fine.

but aside from that, if you have both sources then making a comparison for yoursefl as verification is always better than just to listen what others say.

From screenshots I've seen and from what I've read in one of the a/v video forums, the Japanese T2 has a small aspect ratio issue - it is slightly stretched or squished - I can't remember which now. I was just reading about it a few months ago. Can anybody confirm this? It was pretty slight- you wouldn't notice it unless you saw the comparison screenshots, but still, the aspect ratio is off a tiny bit.

I already answered this, yes it has an aspect ratio issue, but it was fixed.
