Matrix Revolutions better than Reloaded
Empire Strikes Back better than ANH
Attack of the Clones better than TMP

If bond films arent sequels then does that not mean that the Star Wars, Matrix, and LotR movies are also not sequels?

one could partly argue that they are not sequels since they are part of one story.

in my opinion, bond movies are not sequels because they do not continue a story (albeit he gets married and they refer to it in later movies).

LOTR, Matrix, SW are "finished" stories. not like alien, friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street, lethal weapon, batman (to name but a few) because they just continue on and on... now that i think of it, bond movies should be sequels because they fall in the same category as LW, batman and so on...

Especially since the most recent Bond films are not even based on Fleming's novels.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Well, so far as I know, he is dead. So I would hope there are no more novels out there.

The ultimate in "ghost writer", eh?

Bond novella still goes on via hired writers. Surprisingly, a few Bond authors have actually had a long career in the field. Too bad EON wont make any of those books into a bond film.

true, there are new writers, but there arent any other books that fleming himself wrote that havent been adapted to a bond movie yet, no?

Well, if you mean "official" Bond movies, you could argue that Casino Royale hasn't been adapted, right? Was that written by Fleming?

But I thought that was an unofficial spoof film.

Written, yes; made, no. Casino Royale is an actual Bond novel which bears no resemblance to the 1967 film of the same name.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I think you're confusing the spoof move with the 1954 TV version starring Barry Nelson. It was from a TV series that did different things each week called "Climax!".

I'd almost forgot that there was an earlier TV version. Thanks, Warbler.

On the topic of superior sequels (and I know we've discussed this in the past but we now have new members), what are your takes on the Lethal Weapon movies?

To me, for some qeird reason, every Lethal Weapon is equally good, except the fourth one, which is a little bit worse than the other 3.
