So, here's a question whose answer I couldn't tell from the FAQ, even though you touched on it. Do you intend to keep the "restored" bits of dialogue that are present on the DVD? Namely:

C-3PO's "We've stopped" line in the sandcrawler
His tractor beam explanation
"Close the Blast Doors" (This is the one you mentioned but didn't say what you were doing).
Any others that I may not be thinking of.

I'm just curious from an audio perspective if you're leaving them in, taking them out, or what.

Um, yeah the dialogue changes are something I am wrestling with too. I am hoping to get some time in our theatre to run the two reels we have to see what was and wasn't in there, Mverta what are your thoughts on that?
I'm currently trying to fix all the stutter frames (At the point when lightsabres turn on an off, the R2 shots, anywhere the camera was obviously stopped) and am pretty happy with the results - are you fixing those or do you think its going too far? I am now working on fixing the 'ghosts scene' at the end of Jedi - that is proving very difficult. I am basically fixing anything that breaks the suspension of disbelief (i.e. stuff that I noticed that bugged me/disappointed me the first time I watched the movie). I would absolutely like to get rid of 90% of the band in Jedi - I absolutely wanted to throw up the first time I saw the stupid blue elephant....but I hate the new sequence even more (something I thought impossible until I saw it, and the stupid blue elephant is STILL THERE) But I'm sure that one is just me.

oh and BTW I didn't take any offense from anything anyone said here at all.(And I love the site) Its my opinion (not that it matters a bean) that Mverta's restoration project is for real, and personally I don't care if its not - it doesn't effect me or anyone else here in any way. As for people being on a high horse about stuff, I don't really understand that comment at all, unless it meant that demanding to see what someone is doing is not cool - in which case I agree

I think everyone that is having a go is pretty easygoing about it, and its something that literally anyone could have a go at doing - that is the really cool thing about it. Some people are sharing/distributing/selling what they have done, and some are not - and that is their personal choice too, and should be respected. If you want the perfect restoration, have a go at it yourself! You will enjoy it and might end up with a new career! (and I promise no off topic ramblings from me anymore!)

I haven't decided about the audio yet... that's later. But I can promise you that "close the blast door" will NOT be in my version. Neither will the "we've stopped" line.

I considered adding the lightsaber extend/retracts at the stop frames (which I've adjusted for position), but at this time, I'm leaving them as it is. As a rule, I try to do as little as I possibly can, and if it still bothers me a month later, then I'll go back. The lightsaber extends are in the "we'll look at it again later" category.

Really Impressed with the site, Mike! - learning a lot...

Just wondering whether or not you are intending to add back any film grain to the films, and if so what kind of software or techniques you'd be using to do this. The lowry process seems to have removed most of what was originally there, most probably in order to match the originals with the prequels - seems to look like video in places rather than film. I really liked the aesthetic of the original grain which lent an almost "documentary like" feel in places.

(the lowry dvd restoration of the Indiana Jones trilogy seemed to keep a lot of the original grain in, I can remember reading an article saying Spielberg had requested this)

"But I can promise you that "close the blast door" will NOT be in my version."

I would like to hear the original line, but it sounds like the DVD version doesn't sound very good (out of place), kinda like C3PO's "tractor beam" line.

That would be interesting. I may have to try that myself. While we're on the topic of lightsabers, can you see where I "fixed" the lightsabers in this sequence?. It was just an experiment, and I curious to see what people think about it.

@mverta, intersting that you're not going to put the close the blast doors line back in.

by the same token therefore, would you not be substituting the 'blast it biggs, where are you line' for blast it wedge, where are you?

both of these lines were in the original theatrical run and both lines where subsequently accidentally omitted from home video prints.

I consider close the blast doors to surely be a given. the scene has more fun to it, plus the cutaway to the stormtroopers now makes more sense because of the restored dialogue. the wedge, biggs line also stops audiences going 'huh' when Luke says the line because it's quite obviously wedge that is comng to help him, not biggs.

I always thought the biggs line odd becaues I could remember seeing for one time only the blast it wedge line on a TV broadcast.

I got my shirt late last week. It's better than I expected, I thought the lettering would just be a decal but it's embroidered onto the front. Highly recommended, if you don't mind the wait time!

Those lines were heard theatrically, but only in the mono mix. They were never in the 70mm six track mix or the 35mm Dolby Stereo mix.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

Looks like the Han Shot First slogan is really catching on! I hope this becomes a wake up call to those who think they can get away with ruining classic films. Check out these different links:

Think Geek
Cafe Press

Looks like the Think Geek shirt is getting the most attention-but I suppose you could change that, Mike if you did a little advertising.

Thing is that all those other shirts are fine, however if one of us sees someone walking down the street wearing the one that Mike is sending out, we will know a) they are from this site and b) they are a true Original Trilogy purist. That puts all the others to shame.
