Where were you in '77?
I was lucky enough to meet Stuart a few years back. What a story he had to tell. He could have talked for hours about all the films he had worked on.
Sad news.
I can't imagine the OT without his contribution. Rest in peace...

When 98 years old you reach, have been as awesome, you will not.
R.I.P
One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Goodby Stuart thanks for the creations for which you will always be remembered.
Condolences to his family.
Sorry only just noticed other posts could a mod please add to other.
When people are discussing, collecting, watching, and dressing up as characters you created 35 years ago - that's talent.
RIP, sir. The films wouldn't have been the same without you.
Sorry to hear it. :-(

RIP
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I've never liked the phrase "rest in peace".
Personally I hope that death is just a temporary glitch and he is back to work as soon as possible.
Who knows what the technology of the future will be capable of doing?
By all accounts he was a kind, good humoured and intelligent chap and I hope he finds a way back to us.
Going to try and watch Dr. Strangelove over the weekend. (Freeborn did Peter Sellers' makeup.) Getting out to the Kubrick exhibit is on my to do list this year. One of the ape heads Stuart made for 2001 is on display.

Yes.. interesting one that.
Kubrick was keen to have all props, models and sets from 2001 destroyed but a few slipped through the net.
I've heard varying stories about Trog. (One version is it was a prototype mask that went walkies.) I thought I was hallucinating when I saw a 2001 spacesuit backpack turn up in a Dr. Who episode. Stanley kept the Starchild, so I imagine he didn't have everything destroyed.
If you're a 2001 fan, these pics may break your heart...

Its only a matter of time before everyone who worked on the oot are gone.
It is Return of the jedi's 30th anniversary year. I think they waited far too long for these new movies. Ralph Mcquarrie is also gone.
Even Joe Johnston is showing his age. I saw him in an interview for Capt America and damn he looked like he aged massively since he did Jurassic 3.
