Yeah I may have to re-introduce the “your presence is soothing” bit as much as I hate it. I tried to edit it as “don’t go” then “you had a nightmare last night, I heard you” but the cut was too jarring since Padme goes from turning around in the first shot to standing still in the second. And I will try removing the “senator” bit as well, that’s a great point.

EDIT: …And I can’t find a way to remove that line without creating a jarring music edit. Great 😕

It’s not such an issue that Anakin calls her “Senator” in this scene. It can be interpreted as a reminder of his mission towards Padmé as a political figure.

Yes, I will. Although this is hardly final, it’s possible (though probably unlikely) that I bring the full dinner scene back. I’m basically trying out all my ideas at this point and seeing what sticks. My current concerns are:

Montages are a pretty un-Star Warsy device. (Although Order 66 is kind of a montage)

One scene makes for a pretty short montage.

The day for night effect on the kiss scene is not convincing.

octorox is midiclorians gone in your edit if so fine even though i don’t mind midicloreans. but does it effect the clone wars?

…I think I’ve pretty much already answered these questions.

I’m sure Octorox is not only going to leave intact all midichlorians references, but he’s also going to add more of these in EpII. In the theatrical release of EpII there is no mention at all of midichlorians, so Octorox surely intends to recut Qui-Gon Jinn’s dialogues of EpI as voice-over Yoda’s meditation scenes. Thanks to a subtle montage of different audio sources from EpI, here is the line you’ll probably hear :
“a midi-chlorian count of 20.007 wupiwupi”. I believe this is consistent with the Clone Wars tv series.

Am I right Octorox ?

Perhaps you should revise the topic title/op to clarify that you’re doing This for the whole trilogy and Not just Tpm, since tpm seems to be done and You are now discussing ep2. I don’t think given the nature of this project each film deserves a topic. That’s not to say it’s not plenty interesting as these may be my go-to edits of the pt.

Is it possible to change the topic title? I’m not sure how.

So I played with removing the scene where Ani and Padme meet the new queen and putting the “Meet the parents” scene directly after the arrival scene instead. However, Padme’s sudden wardrobe change was just too jarring so I’m going to go back to how I had it previously. One thing I’m trying to address is that in many fanedits (particularly L8wrtr’s) the movie cuts very quickly between Anakin and Obi-Wan’s storylines, to the point where it can feel disorienting and jumpy, and make it hard to “settle in” with either plotline. I’m trying to address this by presenting bigger chunks of story before switching to the other perspective. So far I think it’s pretty successful but the proof will be in testing audience reaction. I’m probably going to release a workprint of Ep II before the final cut for that very reason.

Not at present.

Whoops, you could with the old software. I hadn’t tried to do it since the move and didn’t know you couldn’t.

octorox i have a question in rebels we see obi wan’s message but he mention’s the empire. i thought he didn’t find out about the empire until he saw the recording of anakin killing the jedi in the temple.

Seems Octorox wasn’t aware of that when he wrote the screenplays for “Rebels”…

Was just joking dude. Don’t quite remember the Rebels sequence, but Obi-Wan does not record this message in EpIII (at least, not on screen).

Not anything that won’t get me banned.

Please be my guest ! But it would surely end up in a drop in your impressive message per day ratio (quantity, not quality, unfortunately…).

it was the part in episode 3 where they use the thing in that room to warn any surviving jedi

Not sure: Obi-Wan just recalibrates the fake clone message so the surviving Jedi wouldn’t fall into the trap.
It’s unclear in Rebels when he recorded his message (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaEG6c2LZic). So it might be a continuity issue between EpIII and Rebels, but I think he does record it later.
