(Screen Shots)

I am pleased to announce that I have finished ROTJ 2.0, from a face lifting point of view... My later releases will contain custom edits with the additions of some of the original deleted scenes, that I am working with other forum members on with privately.

I am  now rendering a FULL 22 BD version with DTS audio 6.1.  Once complete I put it online via the usual channels. (MONDAY) 3/30/2015

List of work done:

--Re- Rottoscoped all laser blasts and 98% of the light saber shots. Some were already done from the studio and originally looked pretty good (2%) :}

--Added minor light flares to improve certain shots.

--Added Professional Muzzle flashes on most weapons.

--Added impact Flashes on most of the Action Sequences as this enhanced many of the battle sequences.

--Added Better lighting effects to the Falcon, as it was entering the death star.

--Replaced all Falcon Engine shots, All of the Engine shots are now a blue glow.

-- The only shot I have regrets with is the Super Star Destroyer crashing into the death star, I added extra explosions to mask a little of the cheezness of the original fireball, but outside of re-shooting this sequence all together, there is not a lot more I can do.. Its a bad shot and needs re-shot.

I am currently working to clean up the footage from the deleted scenes. (this is at a request from other members of this forum.  For a possible later addition, below is some screen shots from this.  They will not be in Version 2.1 but possible 3.0 or someone else's edit. As you know the deleted scenes are in SD, I unconverted the footage to 1080p and got rid of the horrible interlacing artifacts and add a comprehensive about of Noise reduction,  and added a nice  polished HD Kodak film grain. (this smooths a lot of the garbage out).  I am now working on removing most of the film scratches, and bad splices.  The shots still need to be color corrected, but I will do this when I get everything else done.  Once this is complete then I will work on creating laser blast effects, ect. Below are the screen shots.

I really wanted to add Sebastian Shaw as a ghost as the end but I do not have any source material to work with.  Any help with obtaining this 20 second clip 1080p (MAX Quality) would be a great help. I then would be able to add it to a future 2.1 release.

But for now Enjoy!!!

I don't know where to find it, but I can tell you that there is a 1080P (or i at least) version of the 97 SE out there that would have sebastian shaw.

I wish you luck in your project, and would you mind if I just use your version as a base for my edit instead of manually editing in all the clips you've sent me into my cut (it's a little tedious... lol)?  When I do get around to finishing my edit anyway.

its not out yet, Rendering, will be tonight.. "Patience my friend, in time he will seek you out...."

I'm not asking asking if it's ready or not, I'm asking if I may use it when it is out.  I'm not even ready for it yet anyway!

I ask because the previous agreement was that I was to edit the clips you sent me into my rip of the actual blu ray version, and now I'm asking if I may just use your version as that would be alot easier.

But now I'm starting to change my mind into thinking I should just edit the clips in as previously agreed, since you're releasing it as a 22 GB BD.  That's what I plan on releasing as well, but I will most likely have to re-encode it at some point so it might be better if I base off the full 36 GB version on the official blu ray version in order to maintain the highest quality.  (Meaning re-encoding a 36 GB file to 22 GB would be preferable to encoding an already 22 GB file to another 22 GB file)

Which brings me to my next question, are the small clips you have sent me all the work that you have done just spread out, or will your full version contain small rotoscopes that aren't available to me in the clip form?  It'd be nice if I could just easily incorporate those clips into my full encode without missing anything so that when I do eventually make my encode it would basically be a 40 GB version of your work ready to be downsized.  :)

No the clips I sent you originally I made some changes to, your better off just working from my BD 22 or BD 50 Beta 2.

And Yes you can use them...  I going to put the BD 22 up tonight.  I have reservation about seeding a 40 gig version.

I don't want to get dinged by my ISP.. If I do, then I need Seeders and lots of them..

What has been done to this in terms of general color correction?

Some people call them Force Ghosts. I call them Midichlorian Swarms.

I've always thought that the best and simplest solution for making Star Destroyer's crash into the death star look better is to slow the entire explosion way down. I would love to see how it works even though I'm not sure if it's possible to retain smoothness of motion when slowing down, because it's only 24 frames per second. Anyway, I 've just remembered that Adywan did slow down the slug from TESB indeed perfectly.

Consider me a satisfied customer.  Do you have any plans for doing this on ANH and ESB?  Doing those two would understandably be intimidating at the moment... but I could live with just having enhanced lasers and shiz to keep it in 1080P.

Ok, I was able to download it and I have some good and bad things to say. The good is all the work on englne flash, laser bolts and lightsabers. During the big space battle I think your ships firing added a new dimension to them, I'm not sure what you did, but it looked cool. The bad, well number one I wish you could have deleted the newer Jabba's band sequence and young Anakin being there. Also, I did'nt like the added effect done to the big explosions, it looked amatuerish and cheesy. Otherwise a pretty good effort in my opinion.

If you are referring to the Star Destroyer scene I am in full 100% agreement.  I only have a limited about of pre-keyed explosions, and if I had my way I would re-shot the entire scene.  Since I do not have a Auto CAD model to print out of this ship and a 3d printer, I will leave this sequence to another fan...  I will let other fans edit those other requests out as I only had the one Box Set of BD releases. But I agree with you..  The release I have was not so much of an edit but a touch up.

I am not much of an editor, more of Adobe After effects guy, so I will leave that to someone else.. (Possessed HELP!!!) :}

I already have v1.0 IV and V, Working on some fixes before releasing.

IV details-

-Falcon engine will be Blue

-Darth Vader eyes will be black (no more red tint and no more eyes and eyebrows from David) god help us all...

Vader's chest plate will now actually light up with random lights (RED)

-original lasers on the intro scene (storm troopers and rebels) will all be erased and redrawn digital with a more natural screening effect.  I have to get rid of the originals because just re-scoping them made the effects look too hot!!

-Han Shoots first

-Debating Cutting Jabba Scene it did not work in 77, and it still did not work in 98.

-all light sabers rescoped

-all lasers blast and effects rescoped

muzzle flashes add where needed.

reworking Death Star explosion.

-- working to replace space background after the explosion of Alderen. From the POV inside of the cockpit of the Falcon.  (I spelled it wrong I know.. ) I am holding on this because I have not composited a background that I am happy with yet. And it is a nightmare to track with Mocha AE pro.

- some of the xwing cockpit explosions will be enhanced.

- misc sparks will be added here and there during the death star attack seq.

--Misc AUDIO storm trooper Dialog added when needed.

-- Vader's light saber can now be heard turning on just before OBIWAN activates his saber.  (rear left to mid channel) on a DD 5.1 mix.

--Falcon shown firing at Tie Fighters with added sound effect of the Falcon firing. ("your all clear Kid...") Also Laser blast effect added just before TIE pilot says "look out..."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V details:

-All laser blasts, light sabers recoped.  inpact flares added ect same as above.

--also converting pink saber shots to RED

-Luke Vader shot in the cave will have more of a dreamy effect added.

-misc impact sparks ect.

--muzzle flash added when needed.

--Various minor improvements

Vader's saber can now be scene turning off after luke crashes through window (city in the clouds)

Sorry to bump an old thread. Just wanted to ask permission to use this version of the film in an edit I’m working on.

Sorry to Necrobump, I had this downloaded a long time ago but unfortunately my editing Hard Drive got damaged during a move and I lost all my files. I’m currently getting back into editing/working on a Return of the Jedi edit and I’d really like to use this as the base again. If anyone has this and is able to share please shoot me a PM. Thanks!
