The Editdroid Facebook page has links to some videos I've never seen before, one about lightsaber tests, another one being an Episode 4 blooper reel. Cool stuff.

Then you should read a bit about the ebook versions of the "making of" books.

It worries me that this is getting so much publicity.  What if Disney/LFL shut this down?

I could see how one could feel this way but Disney is not shy about capitalizing on moments that keep them on top.  The only way I could see this rare stuff NOT being allowed to the surface is if GL had caveats written in the deal that Disney agreed to up front.

This could also give GL a boost as he's claimed many times it would take far too much money to properly preserve such things.  Disney probably has far more resources along with lesser paid employees that could make this happen possibly allowing fans to "forgive" GL now that he's done what's right for the Saga.

Of course, this is all just supposition.

Well, the FB page jumped in likes from around 2,000 Friday to 4,000 yesterday to 12,000 today, and still no legal action.  So you are all probably correct, they may feel it is in their best interest.  I hope so because I'm loving the material.

...or 12000 likes is so low "they" didin't even noticed it. Chill out guys, what "legal action" could they take? Shut down that facebook page?

Well, yeah.  That means it would be more difficult to distribute the material without someone ordering cease and desists.

Ya know, another possible caveat could have been "leave the fans alone".  George was already well aware of the fan base and what they wanted and worked on.  He rarely stood in the way of preservation's as far as I know.  It was work he didn't have to do and he knew fans were happier if they could try their own hand at things ..... hell, he made Star Wars on the cheap to begin with and people were still buying every version made, he had nothing to lose.

I'm surprised that there aren't more of these promo discs out there.  Maybe the attention this is getting will turn up some more that have been hiding in the back of some office somewhere.  As popular as Jedi was it seems reasonable that someone else would have hung on to it.  Were they given to different potential clients or just shown at a convention?

Word of this is rapidly spreading. I saw it mentioned in an IRC channel yesterday, and it was even mentioned on the radio this morning.

Bloopers are a video on the ebook release, CNN got it totally wrong.  Kind of amusing.  Nice to see ROTJ footage on the news though, reminds me of the hype around 1983.

It certainly proves Star Wars can still make the headlines. If only the OOT issue got a little positive coverage.

The biggest problem on that front, I think, is that the anti-OOT people have managed to enter the idea that the changes are insignificant into the discourse.

This makes it easy for common folk to dismiss us as a bunch of geeky whiners who have nothing better to do than to go online and complain about a "few small changes" to an old movie.

The release of the GOUT DVDs messed up the OOT movement even more. Now all the anti-OOT people have to say is "They got their DVD and they're still complaining!"

Ugh.

What we need is a catchy slogan; something that Disney/LFL can't capitalize on like they did with "Han Shot First".

"Lucas Raped My Childhood" just makes us sound immature and doesn't accurately convey what we're trying to get across. It is short and effective, however.

We need a catchy, effective, and short slogan that accurately conveys what we're fighting for and manages to make us look like reasonable adults rather than immature children.

"Lucas raped my neighbor."

It's short, catchy, and, if I do say so, sounds almost prosecutable. Everyone  has a neighbor so it's super relatable, and it's not all "me me me" like the first version.

My daughter is currently reading 'The Never Ending Story', the book of course is a much much different thing to the movie.

She is loving the book, I said I wish someone would make another NES that followed the book more closely, as it could make a great film.

She said she wouldn't want to see that though, as the original Never Ending Story film was part of her childhood, it is something that 'just was' and she thought a new film would wreck that for her, even if it was a completely new and different entity.

The best analogy I read was someone's tag here, the SE is like having someone run a long scratch down the side of your car with a key. It doesn't affect the performance of even the look of your car all that much, it would equate to less than 1% of the paintwork being changed, but every time you looked at your car it would piss you off, and you couldn't help feeling annoyed and wondering why someone would do that to you.

Instead of a slogan, maybe just a picture.

Little known fact: originally Leonardo da Vinci wanted a bushy, brown mustache on the Mona Lisa (actual hair protruding from the canvas), but he didn't have the technology, or the budget, to do so.
