Help Wanted: SW videogames cutscenes (esp. Rogue Squadron series)

Hi,

Does anyone here either have, or can point me in the direction of downloadable cutscenes from the SW video games?

I’ve been combing IGN and Gamespot and they’ve been very productive. But I’m still hunting. I’m trying to put together watchable DVD’s for my own collection, and at the moment the Rogue Squadron games are my main focus. I’d love to be able to put together a RS movie using these clips but haven’t yet found enough.

Can anyone help? Or tell my how to digitise raw GameCube or PS2 footage from my TV?

Hi!
I was just thinking of doing "SW Games Cutscenes" DVDs (PSX, PS2 and GC games for the begining)!

For doing that, I think I will borrow my father's cam which has a video line-in, transfert it to my HD,...
It's the only way I've found for me, now...
I think such a DVD could be very cool!

For PC games, I was thinking of doing a KOTOR Cutscenes DVD. I have the game on Mac, and all the cutscenes are in .mov format, in a "movies" folder, so, it will not be too hard, I think...

I've got a lot of clips from various Rebel Strike levels, but not many of the cutscenes.

If you do this, is there any way you could either email them to me or upload them somewhere?

On the Rogue games for the NGC, is there an easy way to get all the cutscenes to play, without the minor hassle of actually playing the games all the way through.

I have in the past plugged the NGC into a DVD recorder to record parts of a game - Star Wars Arcade of all things!! I was challenged to find out what was written on the Death Star on the second level. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU was written on it in the first level.

The results were very good so I would expect cutscenes to be equally good.

Another idea I had was to use an emulator to play the games through my computer and somehow grab the footage? Any ideas anyone?

To my knowledge, there are no working Gamecube emulators out there........

I would go with hooking your gc up to a dvd recorder.

I have Rogue Squadron 3D on my PC. I could try to capture the cut scenes with Fraps.
I'm also searching for the cut scenes of Rebel Assault 2. I hear they used real people to shoot these scenes. Would be cool to watch them.
@Kaal-Jhyy: Yeah, that would be cool .

Well, i've got all the available rogue leader and rebel strike that i can find, for the moment. But if you can grab the RS 3D ones Andij, then that'd be cool.

I'm also looking at Bounty Hunter. Ive got a couple of the awesome looking cutscenes. The full length intro was released by LucasArts and i've got a clip of the immediate following level, so thats a good start to another planned dvd.

I'm definatly going to look into either a dvd recorder of a capture card for my computer. These projects are something I've had in mind for a long time and am only now doing anything about.

LOL! Rebel Assault 2 is pretty much ONE big cut-scene...
I have this game, and yes, all the characters are real people, the background an all the other stuff is CGI. For a fan, it's a nice game (for the story, the adventure, and especially the scenes). For a gamer, it's not very interesting. In fact, the game is basically an "interactive movie" with some arcade scenes...
The only trouble is that the game become old, and the cutscenes have a pretty bad quality (low-res video and old-digitalized sounds).

To digitise the SW Games Cutscenes, I think it will be a long project (just talking for myself), but it could be great!!
I don't have the cam for now, and my HD is ready to explode!

Concerning my project, here is a list of SW games cutscenes:

PSX Games
- Masters of Teras Kasi
- The Phantom Menace
- Jedi Power Battles
- Demolition

PS2 Games
- Starfighter
- Jedi Starfighter
- The Clone Wars
- Bounty Hunter (rendered cutscenes by ILM / Sound provided by Skywalker Sound)
and maybe some replays from "Super Bombad Racing" and "Racer Revenge"....could be fun.

GC Games
- Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader
- Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike

So....when will it be done?....I really don't know....but I WANT to do it!

Well, thanks to a poster on the TFN forums, I've learnt that the movie sequences in Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight can be Binked into avi files, so I'm gonna try compiling a DF2 DVD tomorrow.

If it works, and someone can tell me how to uplaod to myspleen, would anyone be interested?

EDIT ok, first snag. The opening sequence comes in at 1.86gb, which means I won't get much per dvd. Need to refine the conversion technique

BTW, if anyone finds a way to rip the cutscenes from the Metal Gear Solid games let me know.

I'd try to do that too but I got no idea how to find the video files (they'll be somewhere in the game data -> base? directory, but where?!). Could you perhaps link to the page on theforce.net where that is explained?

Well, thats the real trick, isn't it? I'd love to get all this stuff onto dvd formats but figuring out how....well, that's the point of this thread.

On the Dark Forces II front - I've test burned a copy and it looks pretty good (well...by pretty good I mean it looks like a second rate fan film but hey, it's an old game ).

If I burn a nero image, can anyone help me upload it?

I would sleep with anyone who could extract the cutscenes from:
Wing Commander 3 + 4, and Rebel Assault 2.
VADER: Let me look on you with my own eyes...

Hi, I am a new user, but long time lurker.
I have been thinking about this for a while, as I have most of the games previously mentioned. I am quite clued up on video editing and conversion, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to get some of the clips.

Let me know if you want any converting, and Ill get right on it.

Thanks for your offer Neil. Since I'm concentrating on teh Rogue Squadron games, anything you could get from the first game if you have it on you PC would be great. If not, well, have a look and see what you can do and, well, I'll take it

I have the first Rogue Squadron Game on the N64 - also on an emulator disc for my Xbox.

Ill have a go at capturing the clips, but not sure if Ill have to have the game completed to be able to access them from the menu.

I shall get back to you.
