STAR WARS: Symphony for a Saga — Page 2

Okay... I've tried Windows XP and three different unzipping utilities. After downloading 30-some mb, it always comes up as "cannot perform this function". It says it's a zip file, but can't open it for some reason. It's not recognized. I've never had a problem with any other zip files, including the Prequel discs, so I'm pretty confident it's not a problem with my computer.

Raaarrrr.... Must... have..... Star Wars music...

SWEET! Winrar worked! Finally!

Never heard of that program. Thanks for the help, tlbauerle!

Now I am complete.

Bad: They are MP3's (oh well )

Good: They sound pretty sound. I just listened to Leia's theme (would you believe a fan of the OT soundtracks like me doesn't know them by name? I hope Neil doesn't lose all respect for me), and I love the slow crescendo to the climax. These don't have to match the films. I can't wait to hear the rest.

Ugly: Rikter (Don't tell him I said so )

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

I remember someone mentioned that that "Jazz Star Wars" CD was in some torrent place, where would it be? It's extremly unavailable over here, so it's not illegal/imoral for me to get those... Besides, if I ever find it I'll buy it, I don't usually get mp3s, I perfer to buy my CDs.

Firstly...I used a 192k rip of AOTC since I don't have that. (When it came out I didn't have the money...and I've been looking for the poster cover bonus track for ages now...should've just dropped the cash when it came out)

Secondly, ROTS is from a bad 256k rip with lots of pops and scratches...

When those two are fixed and I see what the bonus tracks for ROTS are like I'll update the prequel track and make FLAC available.

No disrespect towards you, but I won't be downloading disc 1.

I have that CD, ricarliete. It's called "Sketches On Star Wars" by the Trotter Trio.

It's mildly interesting. Nothing I listen to all the time.

I'd upload it for you, but as you can see from my above posts, I can barely open a zip file.

These computers are getting quite out of hand. Even I can't understand their logic at times.

Oh, and I just listened to the entire saga together, tlbauerle! Great, great work on the editing. My favorite transition: Escape from the Asteroid Field. Great stuff.

Nah, don't worry. I just mentioned it because someone said that CD was in a torrent place somewhere.

That's too bad...I think it is the better sounding disc.

You really should - whether you prefer the OT music or not, the way the PT disc is edited is much more concise and flows better. Here's my theory:

JW originally did Star Wars. We all know that. It was a complete work. Then, unexpectedly, he was brought in to do a sequel. Now he has to expand on a work that was originally complete, with the prospect of doing one more after this. So he, to the best of his ability, makes ESB's score a continuation of SW's score, leaving it open enough to leave room to expand on for a probable third installment.

Then when he's brought in to do the PT, from the beginning he knows he'll be making 3 scores, and with this in mind, he makes the first score in such a way that it can be easily expanded upon, et cetera. Which is why the PT disc in this set flows better - the score was originally done with 3 in mind, not one.

Problem is, it's not just the music. When I hear the music, I see the OT - pure and simple. They go hand in hand.

I simply don't have that connection with the PT, nor do I consider it much of a loss. It's just something I have no interest in. Sorry...

I'm looking for editors that can help cut video to this symphony...especially since I wasn't thrilled with the "Musical Journey" disc. Let me know if you are interested, please.
