Here’s a preliminary version of a scene between Dooku and the Queen from my edit.

Not bad.

Not to sound rude, but I would appreciate if your edits would stay in your thread, I want to keep this thread not-cluttered. 😃

Preview of the “stormtroopers”.

I wish that could film real suits, but oh well.

JEDIT: The teaser trailer is almost done

Sorry. I will keep 'em there in the future. It’s just I’d documenting my progress here on a scene you suggested.

Looking good! If I were to nitpick, I’d say that something about the shadows in the shot of all the LAATs looks wrong to me, maybe they’re too small; or that those Republic Acclamators look a little too slow before they jump out of hyperspace. Other than that, everything looks great.

Wow!, making the technologies look more older and remove c3po and r2d2,can’t wait!

So Awesome man. More of the Dooku Amadala clip. Brilliant!

I stand by what I said about the angle of Dooku’s shots not working. It works in the original scene, but here it just looks awkward. Good job rotoscoping, although you’re gonna need an establishing shot, as it’s not super clear where Dooku is (I know because you told us). Your CGI work is most impressive as well.

Author

Yeah, in the final edit there will be an establishing shot.

Thank you for your feedback!

I love the idea of the Dooku Amidala scene. I dont have the VFX skill, but I wanted to do a scene for an edit that used the Jedi Library deleted scene. I thought it would be great to have a conversation between Qui Gon and ObiWan where Obiwan asks

“I dont understand why he (Dooku) quit.” then Qui Gon could say "dont focus on your anxieties Obiwan, etc.

I felt like Obiwan was massively underutilized in Episode 1, and having a scene where he and Qui Gon discuss why Dooku left the order, might make it easier to understand why Obiwan doesn’t do much. The rationale being that he is struggling with Dooku’s betrayal of Jedi ideals.

That’s a great idea!

Does anyone know if Liam Neeson ever said “Dooku” in his Qui Gon voice?

I don’t believe so, but he did say “you should too” when they first arrive on Tatooine. You might be able to mix the sounds with other moments when he says d words and make it work.

Dooku says Qui Gon in Episode II, so maybe you could have a close up of Qui gon, and have Dooku speak to him (through the force,) and then Obiwan could ask “I dont understand why he quit,” cluing in to the fact that Dooku is speaking to Qui Gon.

Its a bit of a cheat, but then, you would be able to use what is available without a ton of fuss.

Dooku speaking to Qui-Gon through the Force would feel really forced (haha) and amateur. Besides, I don’t see the point. This conversation would be between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. Said conversation is an interesting idea.

Thats why I said it would be a cheat lol

The Tusken camp scene looks really good! How did you edit the mattes?

I’ve got a dumb suggestion but is there a way you could add Tarkin in anyway? 😛

I used an image of a horizon from google and I just slapped that on top of the original and did my best to make it blend.

Probably not in Episode I, but maybe in 2 or 3. 😃

Anyways in my spare time I’ve been fiddling around with the idea of editing Return of the Jedi (removing the Death Star, etc) and here’s an early shot from above “Had Abaddon” with the Emperors space station.

Episode I is coming along very nicely. One thing that I’m prioritizing is improving the digital Mos Espa mattes by completely removing them. For a backwater desert town there are too many “skyscrapers” and weird floating… gas platforms? Those are all going away!

Skyscrapers are too much for a backwater town but a giant sports arena isn’t?
