I feel like that if I can convey the same info in an earlier scene it would be better to have this scene be silent. If the other scene can’t be included, then the dialogue will stay.

I created a basic city-scape in Source Filmmaker, I set up lighting, then I set up cameras to then create 4k images.
I take those images into Hitfilm then I composite everything. The clouds are from an image of a sunset I took last year.
I know for a fact that there are better, far more efficient ways of achieving similar effects, but I am content with my current methods.

Here’s a little snippet of the battle (disregard the heavy compression). All shots are finished (unless errors are spotted or dialogue is changed).

The first real clip of the battle will be up in January.

The ships look fake. I think it’s because they don’t have any moving parts or particle trails. You’re getting there, though.

While the Naboo strike team heads to the surface, the Jedi are sent as ambassadors into the main Separatist ship. There they encounter retaliation from droid forces and eventually the assassin Maul.

Their battle leads them into the ships engine room.

Eventually the ships security shields separate the Jedi duo, leading to Qui Gon’s death. All of these scenes are inter-cut with the ground assault and the starship assault. This entire sequence will sort of mirror the Battle of Endor, except with far more focus on Obi-Wan’s story rather than the pilots or Padme.

Please don’t raise your expectations regarding the space/ship sequences. They will NOT be photo-realistic. Expecting that would be completely unreasonable. I WILL however do my best to make my sequences work despite the visual effect quality. I am unfortunately limited in terms of visual effects software.

I’m going to put this project on hold for the foreseeable future. I set my own expectations impossibly high for what position I am in in life. Do know that the spark of hope still remains and I will complete my extreme re-edit of The Phantom Menace one day, however that day is not soon.

A few clips of unfinished work will be uploaded in the coming hours so that I may get some closure in what relatively little work I have done.

So long as you’re not too busy, I don’t see why you would want to stop. Your edit may be ambitious, but so far, it’s delivered spectacularly well. I can’t force you to change your mind, though. At any rate, it’s been a blast seeing all your work. Hope to see you 'round.

I’m not devoting very much time to the project, so I cleaned up something I started working on last month.

I was looking forward to your edit. That’s a shame. But no one should know your priorities better than yourself. Good luck out there 😉

Remember, there’s no time limit to this project. If you’d rather put it on hold for now, that’s up to you, and you can always come back to it later. One alternative is to simply work on it regularly, but infrequently.

Hello!

I am again working on this project, however I have realistically set my goals this time.

Things to note:

The Stortroopers don’t appear in this movie. Adding the army to the final battle would accomplish nothing and would make the movie too complicated. The last thing that The Phantom Menace needs is more complication.

The separatists (bad guys) ships will look like X-Wings. The Republic’s will look like TIE Fighters. They won’t look exactly the same, but you can see how things evolve.

EDIT: No to the Separatist X-Wings

Anakin isn’t a slave. His introduction (as well as Tatooine’s) will be with a 2 minute long podrace. (This idea is lovingly stolen from TK42-WAN’s “The Cloak of Evil”.)

Anakin won’t talk much. (I might have him redubbed to fix some poor line delivery, who knows)

Maul is an assassin. Dooku isn’t involved in any way with Palpatine. Mauls lightsaber won’t be red.

The senate chamber scene will be cut (People talk about what happens in it after the scene anyways)

Because of how much this project is now fundamentally different to what it once was, I will create a new thread soon with all of that fancy formatting. The title won’t be “Dawn of War”

I have a clip almost ready that I am really excited to show all of you (brand new vfx, computer panels etc.)
