I said a while ago that the Blu_ray/ DVD versions won’t be available until mid next year at the earliest

Thanks, I obviously completely missed that!

Why waiting that long by the way ? I understand that making a full bluray with menu and features takes time, but if the fanedit already exists in high quality I fail to understand why a mkv of the ucompressed version of the edit is postoned to next summer.

The mkv is already out there. I’m not sure what you are referring to here

I think he’s requesting a second MKV be released that matches the bit rate you plan to use on the Bluray.

Otherwise, he’s requesting what we’re all secretly craving, a lossless 10-bit x265 encoded mkv that is an exact representation of what’s on your computer as a finished project, complete with the audio in LPCM. Then everyone can customize/reencode the file on their computer on their own time to fit their target device or media.

I think he is a she, and if you think I’m gonna complete that ROTS quote,

Actually, it’s an AOTC quote.

Exactly.

I’m pretty sure this is the moment for that signal Obi-Wan does stroking his mustache.

An example of actual decent comedy in the prequels.

And of course that’s the one they cut.

I thought the comedy in that scene was terrible, but much like 99% of the attempted comedy in the prequels

Can we please not bring the Prequels up again just to criticize them for the billionth time?

But hey, speaking of the prequels, what a piece of garbage they were, right?

Anyway, back on topic, many people have asked me why there is a long delay for the blu-ray of ESB to appear. Well there are a few reasons:

1 - I haven’t had enough time to set up the new PC as yet. Problems at home with a burst radiator saw to that, then xmas just around the corner.

2- I’m having hell with Encore Cs6 crashing as soon as i import an asset for a timeline. The other Blu-Ray authoring software i have seen ( that i even have a chance of understanding how to use the damn software) won’t accept DTS as an audio track or have pop up menu capability. Seems like its a common bug and adobe are less than useless in sorting this problem out, especially now the program is discontinued, and no one seems to have found a fix. If anyone knows decent software that will accept a 6.1 DTS audio track, had pop=up menu capabilities along with being able to build proper menus without having to sue their inbuilt templates, and doesn’t cost a fortune, then please let me know ( or know of a working fix to the Encore issue)

3- Special features. It’s going to take some time to create these. Even though the making of featurette isn’t going to be a overly long video, i do need to do a lot of editing work (including getting interviews from the Revisited team). So i wil be doing all of the special features for the Blu-Ray inbetween working on ROTJ:R & ANH:RHD so there is no delay on fully working on these projects.

So it’s likely to be the second half of 2018 before the blu-ray & DV9-9’s are available

I haven’t had that issue with Encore. Bizarre. I’ll ask some colleagues and see if they know what’s up.

What kind of Blu-Ray menu designs are you making for the Empire Revisited Blu-Ray?

Hey Ady,

Sorry to hear of your issues with Encore. Having a read of the below link sounds like the same or very similar issue which is attributed to a Microsoft Windows update of all things (actually they are quite often responsible for breaking many things with 3rd party software). Even if it’s not the same update affecting yours, do you think you could attribute when you started having the issue to when some updates were applied or the install date of any particular Windows update?

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2292099

I take it you’re pretty clued into this type of stuff though so if this is all well treaded and old ground, just tell me to bugger off 😛

Ady,

some of us have come up with and used a method to get around the dts (and other types of incompatibility) issue.

Build your iso with an another track type in place, such as ac3 (leave enough space on disc for the larger file). then open the iso in multiavchd. replace track and rebuild.

Yeah, isn’t that pretty much how NJVC built his Despecialized Blu-Rays? (Though he did the same for the video track too, IIRC.)

When should we expect a full comparison chart?

Thanks. i did see a page a while ago that mentioned the updates causing conflict but they never mentioned which update was causing it. Unfortunately it now seems its a windows 10 issue with the update and i’m using windows 7. This was on a clean install, before any updates were applied, Just the programs i use. Yeh Encore cs5 seems to work fine, it just lacks the features that i want, like pop-up menus.

This was a route i was thinking of going down but i have had compatibility issues after using multiavchd. Didn’t the guy who create it discontinue it though?

MultiAVCHD is no longer updated, but it’s perfectly functional in its current state.

What kind of compatibility issues?

If you fix it in multiavchd, then run the finished product through BD_rebuilder with BD-50 checked, it will give you a fully compatible disc. Just make sure to edit the ini to add Force_NOENCODE=1

When I showed someone a clip of the Battle of Hoth from ESB:R, he asked, “Why cover up the beautiful stop-motion? There’s beauty in that handmade craftsmanship and work. Why conceal it?”

The AT-ATs were given a bit of motion blur so that they could have more “realistic” movements, concealing the jerkiness of the original stop-motion.

When I told him about Han’s shirt in carbonite being fixed, this is what he said:

"Who cares about his stupid shirt?! How deranged do you have to be to care about or even notice that? Little girls are having their clitorises ripped off by religious zealots, and some nerd wants to fix Han Solo’s shirt?! There are VASTLY more important things in the world than this stupid nonsense. These nerds aren’t even creating art. They’re just saying to REAL artists, “Your stuff wasn’t good enough. Here, I’ll fix it.”
