Why would the Emperor’s royal guard be protecting Vader though?

There was some EU stuff about Vader having his own elite squad of troopers, but the red guys only guard the big cheese.

“I have to say that I felt George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.” - James Cameron about Episode VII.

If you must say things like that, please keep them in Greek. We don’t want anybody who isn’t a gentleman knowing about them, after all.

I don’t think that the insigna is canon. A fleet or vice admiral would probably be in charge of the construction. A grand admiral would probably we more concerned about the war at hand, and leading the empire’s naval ships. If that makes sense.

For now we don’t know what the guy is doing in the movie. All we can say is that he’s got a gun, a nice outfit, and he’s walking on a battlefield. He could be the Captain Phasma of R1…

That would be disappointing. She was kinda a bust. I hope they don’t do that to us again…

Ben Mendelssohn is in a completely different league from Gwendoline Christie as far as acting chops are concerned, though. I don’t know if any of you have seen Bloodline, but the guy’s absolutely dazzling. I really can’t imagine they’d hire him just to stand around.

Captain Phasma is pretty much the Boba Fett of TFA, and with exactly as much screen time out of her armor.

Nah. Boba Fett was cool.
Phasma just got on my nerves.

Ouch! He should get that leg looked at by a medical droid!

Walt Disney was the soul of the Walt Disney Company. Once he died, it became a soulless, flesh-eating zombie.

Phasma wasn’t in the film long enough to get on anyone’s nerves

I believe in Rian Johnson

I think that might actually be the emperor…

And if it is who or what is he kneeling to.

There is nothing to suggest that he is kneeling before another person here.

It could be that this tube thing is some sort of Tech to do with the Super Laser on the Death Star and they only just cracked the formula to make it work.

I have also heard a rumour that All the Bounty hunters from the OT will make an appearance but they were not chosen. Jabba may also be in it too. Forest Whittaker is a bounty hunter and is hired possibly along with some of the others. Not sure if it is true but there you go.

Cad Bane is also added to the bounty hunter troop

Not sure about him hope he looks better than that.

If Sheev ends up in this movie, they’re doing an incredible job at preventing leaks this time around.

Personally, though I’d like to keep the emperor as a later reveal if watching these movies chronologically. However, Vader I desperately want to see here. I want him portrayed in a way that would add weight to Star Wars, making him the character to truly fear. Seeing him wreck shit on the battlefield could be spectacular, and especially compensate for the ROTS Vader.
