Rise of the Rebellion: A Rogue One Edit — Page 3

While it’s a neat idea, I’m a firm believer in the less is more approach to Vader. I thought Gareth Edwards nailed it visually. It felt very much like the scene of the back of his head in Empire.

ITW, hopefully soon. I’ll post updates here, on the blog and at fanedit.org when it’s ready. New job, extra time required, life, etc…

Not sure why this posted as a second post and not an edit. Sorry.

Take all the time you need, master. I’m just stoked to be able to watch a version of Rogue One without “BOOOR GULLETTT!”

Why are Vader’s eyes recolored to black instead of having the dark crimson tint from ANH?

It’s like it’s quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it’s not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso’s brush techniques.

You’ll also noticed that Empire and Jedi don’t have the red tint.

But the panel on Vader’s chest in ANH doesn’t match up with the rest either, nor does the matte finish of his helmet.

Consider this in line with Revisited

In line with Revisited. My preferred OT is Despecialized. But, so be it.

Technically, Vader has a few different helmets, each of which have different lenses. The RO and ANH helmet are ‘supposed’ to have the red lenses while the ESB and ROTJ helmets have black. (and who the hell knows about the atrocity Vader in ROTS? Black, I believe… but red from the inside?)

But with all that said, it really doesn’t matter - looks cool either way. I understand why they made them red in RO to match up with ANH, since ROTS was so far off the mark - but in this edit, for some reason, I thought the change to black actually created a cool happy medium with the classic ANH Vader suit, but with the uncharacteristically-ANH polished look and black lenses… this brought it all together for me - a nice mix of classic and new. But it’s really all preference. He’s badass either way… in this case, I liked the change. If we want to see the red lenses, the official version is readily available. 😃

Vader’s red lenses look really overdone in Rogue One to me compared to A New Hope. I prefer Digimod’s black lenses to the red ones we got, but a happy medium would be ideal.

I agree they are a bit over-saturated in RO.

I finally got round to watching your edits DigMod (cut opening RoR and HotF) - they’re great, really such an improvement. I’ll try and gather my thoughts into a tangible small review when I get chance.

Hi Bromeo, no subtitle track. I honestly haven’t taken the time to learn how to make them. If you make one I can remake the Blu Ray with it.

Jedit: I don’t know if this was answered previously, but does the BD-25 have a menu or is it simply the BD version of the original file?

Yes, this will have menus. Here’s the main menu

I recently asked DigMod if I could tinker with some of the artwork for his project. He graciously gave me the green-light, so I thought I would try to craft a new ink-saver cover for his edit. I am also working on adding a few details to the disc art, which should be finished in the not too distant future. A big thanks to DigMod for allowing me to tinker a bit…

Jedit: Wrong DigMod logo on the cover. All better now…

The clone wars have been over for nearly two decades, so I didn’t want to reference them as they have no connection to this story.

Yeah but the opening scene takes place just a few years after the end of the Clone Wars (I’m a little bit unsure of the new SW chronology about that).

“I have to say that I felt George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.” - James Cameron about Episode VII.
