Ranking the MCU Movies

I don’t know if this thread isn’t already exist but page 7 not see.

  1. The Avengers
    [No comment]

  2. The Incredible Hulk
What an amazing rollercoaster of a movie, from beginning to the end. I liked the villain, I liked the Hulk, I liked Banner, I liked the colonel, I liked the girlfriend. It’s hard to find flaws here.

  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Holy sh*t now this is what happens when you put a cool twist on a superhero movie. It’s not really a superhero film, it’s a spy movie with superheroes in it. I was sitting at the edge of my seat the entire time.

  4. Captain America: The First Avenger
Red Skull was a big dissapointment, he was a very 1-dimensional villain. He worked better when he had the human face mask thing and the actor could actually act properly. The WW2 setting was handled really well. It kinda makes me sad we probably won’t get another Marvel movie which is set in WW2.

  5. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Tries bit too much in places, some scenes feel out of place, but it’s nice to finally see the Avengers realizing that something is going on with the infinity stones.

  6. Ant-Man
As a finale it falls flat on it’s face, but it’s a good movie.

  7. Iron Man
Confident but grounded movie. It’s not trying any complicated universe-building plot, and that’s why it works so well. Marvel needs to make more movies like this.

  8. Iron Man 3
Tony hiding and collecting information about Mandarin and dealing with his PTSD of The Avengers is simply amazing emotional journey, and I love the ending speech. The final battle is underwhelming though.

  9. Thor: The Dark World
    Worth watching for Loki alone.

  10. Iron Man 2
Tries too much at the same time, but it comes together nicely at the end. Still pretty fun.

  11. Guardians of the Galaxy
Strangely paced, the villain wasn’t that great and it didn’t explain many things about the aliens (basic stuff, like cultures, politics etc.).

  12. Thor
    ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Will add Civil War once I rewatch it properly.

  1. Captain America: Civil War May change after I’ve seen it again, but for now it narrowly takes the top spot. A

  2. CA: The Winter Soldier A

  3. The Avengers A

  4. CA: The First Avenger Marvel’s most underrated IMO, but I’m a sucker for the period setting. A-

  5. Guardians of the Galaxy Nearly perfect until the somewhat underwhelming climax. B+

  6. Iron Man Similar to Guardians, has an underwhelming climax. B+

  7. Avengers: Age of Ultron Has trouble balancing characters and has too much sequel setup. B

  8. Ant-Man Pretty generic. If it weren’t for Rudd and the scenes where his friend is explaining stories B-

  9. Iron Man 3 Pretty good until the Mandarin twist. Everything after that is trash. C+

  10. IM2 There’s some good stuff in here. Sadly, it’s hidden behind pointless scenes and sequel setup. C

  11. Thor Pretty bland other than Loki. Thor’s scientist friends’ intern is incredibly annoying, Thor is suddenly worthy despite not actually changing at all. C-

  12. Thor: The Dark World Literally the only good thing about this is Loki. D+

My ratings of each movie actually tend to slightly shift in my head sometimes.

Never watched Incredible Hulk all the way.

I don’t even like superhero movies and I thought GotG was good.

I don’t know if I could rank them. None of them are great films, even Winter Soldier, which is probably my favourite of the bunch, would get a seven or an eight out of ten.

Not enough people read the EU.

Yeah I don’t think anybody is going to agree with you on that one.

Except me.

I liked Guardians of the Galaxy. I wouldn’t even really count it as a superhero movie.

The Avengers: Well paced, colorful fun from start to finish. Great characters.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Well paced, colorful fun from start to finish. Great characters.
Avengers Ultron: Enjoyed Spader’s Ultron. Not enough of him developing his philosophy or the back-and-forth with his “father”. Probably would have been even better as a colorful standalone like the first rather than a dark middle act/movement episode.
CapAm Civil War: Major problems, but the airport fight and Stark/Parker go along way. Lamest…supervillain…EVER!! Some truck driver from the suburbs of Whateverovia is suddenly an international criminal/terrorist mastermind? He’s upset about his family, so he blows up other peoples families? He can’t figure out that his family would have died in the “meteor” strike anyway? 2 and 1/2 movies where the center of the universe is some guy who used to go fishing with Rogers before he got a prosthetic arm that’s not made out of plastic. Might have worked better with Bucky as the villain out there and the Scarlet Witch as the ambiguous character being arrested and maybe used for study by the ambiguous authorities. Everyone is right, everyone is wrong murkiness and possible conspiracies.
CapAm Winter Soldier: Appreciated the Bourne/MI experimentation.
Thor: Small with odd logistics, but I appreciated the fun characters and offworld worldbuilding.
Iron Man: Stark carries the movie.
Iron Man 3: Good until the end. Needed a stronger climax with Stark down on his back about to go out and suddenly overcoming his fears in a “Wait a second, I’m Tony frick’n STARK” type of moment. No more Mopey Tony thereafter.
Antman: Mild and small. Endearing due to it’s fine cast.
Thor 2: More odd logistics. Cast saves it. Liked it, but not overwhelmed.
Haven’t seen the others.

Already seen it 😛

That’s like, month ago. I can’t rate a movie properly until I watched it in the comfort of my own home.

As for my cinematic experience, it was pretty good. I’d put it between Ultron and Winter Soldier.

  1. The Avengers (we have to call it “Avengers Assemble” where I live so I might well be breaking the law by writing that horrid foreign title)

  2. Captain America - The Winter Soldier

  3. Iron Man

  4. Captain America - Civil War

  5. Ant-Man

  6. Avengers - Age of Ultron

  7. Thor

  8. Iron Man Three

  9. The Incredible Sulk

  10. Thor - The Dark World

  11. Guardians of the Galaxy

  12. Captain America - The First Avenger

  13. Iron Man 2

I rate all the MCU movies very highly so having to put them in a list like this seems unfair. I don’t hate the ones at the bottom, I just love them slightly less than the ones at the top.

In the UK there was a tv series called “The Avengers”. Some genius in the marketing department decided we Brits might get confused between that forty year old show and the entirely unconnected Marvel superteam. The name of the movie was changed to “Avengers Assemble” and has remained such for the DVD release and tv broadcasts.

We also got the blade sticking out of Coulson’s chest digitally removed and no Joss Whedon audio commentary. I imported my Blu-Ray from the US.

That showed 'em.

Ohhh right. I hadn’t considered that.

Hilarious.

I politely disagree with your view on Thor. Thor becomes worthy for a good reason, not suddenly, or for no reason at all.

He learns honor and humility by sacrificing himself for people he doesn’t even know (Planet Earth). This is not how Thor starts out in the film. He is arrogant and does not care about the consequences of actions he wants to take, i.e. going head first in to battle with the Frost Giants, and what damage it could bring to his own people.

It might be subtly portrayed but it is there.
