Question on multi-disc DVD cases

Author
Time
Hey guys,

I'm new here, although I have lingered in the shadows long. Anyway, I'm considering repackaging my OT set (a TR47 set that I paid too much for on ebay...this was before I did research and came here first, like a smart person ought to), and transfering the discs from the 4 individual cases to a big 4-disc amaray type of thing. Those of you that have done this: what cases are out there to choose from? I know of the ALPHA version, but can you recommend any other options?

The next step will be tracking down suitable artwork for the larger case, but that's a ways off. Anyway, I figured if there was anyplace to ask this sort of question, it'd be here with you all. Thanks so much!

scanavo actually has a nice product line of multi disc cases...though i dont think they sell directly but you can search for their product on froogle.

one such site offering a 4 disc case http://store.yahoo.com/meritline/99-cents-overlap-dual-dvd-case.html

Hope that helps

I have been buying cases from iNetDVD for a long time now and have always found that they have the best selection of good quality, professional cases.

The two most popular brand name cases out there are Amaray and Alpha. Both brands have single, dual and multi DVD cases. I like iNetDVD because they not only have the standard "black" cases but they have all the special color cases such as the lime green XBox cases, Blue PS2 cases, white Disney style cases, silver ID4 style cases and whatever elese you might like.

I first ran into these guys through their eBay store and have been shopping with them ever since. Check'em out:

iNetDVD currently has two quad cases for sale, an Alpha black and an Alpha white. The white version is currently out of stock (10-24-2004):

I hope that helps.

They do have a pretty nice selection...but what i like about the scanavo line is they have 4 disc (even 6 disc shown on their site) cases that are the same thickness of a single dvd case. Though the multi colors are nice, especially if your looking to replace the snapper cases (what ps2 games come in blue cases? all mine have black)

But where i think the single size multi disc cases are nice is if you have multiple sets of the laserdisc transfers and want to have them all on your shelf without having a seperate case for each version...thats what i plan on getting a couple of these multiple cases for...only places ive found those are just from searches on froogle and scanavo is the only company ive seen with them.

yes, and double-thanks to you, Darth Simon. I saw that case used in an ebay auction for a bootleg set once and wondered where to find it. I like how thin it is too. And the discs don't scratch up against each other in it?

I havent actually bought any of these yet, but i would assume its teh same as a regular case, I mean even if the 2 discs actually touch on the overlap it would be nothing more than cds in a spindle and they dont scratch, i mean the discs are stationary in the case just like any other case so i dont see how they would scratch.

I actually think that secondary flap in the center is worse for the dvds, i have cases that the flap hits the center button on the other disc and cause it to fall out of the holder.

also cds/dvds are a lot more resilient to scratches than most people realize. I found that smudges have more of an affect on their playback than scratches. and if you do have dvds/cds that are scratched and not working get dvd doctor (aka disc doctor, game doctor) its great and it works...it saved one of my ps2 games from a pretty bad scratch (just if i bought i knew one i would pay the extra money and get the electric one)

so while the protection of your discs is valid i dont think its really anything to really worry about as long as your not just storing them in a pile in the corner or anything like that

p.s. when i do finally get around to getting these ill post a kinda of review on their quality and such if your interested.

Sorry... I own an XBox, not a PS2... I was trying to list items and colors from memory.... dohhh.... I just checked to see what they mentioned for the "blue" cases and could not find the one I was thinking about. I bought some dark blue cases from them a while back to put my BTTF DVDs in and I could have sworn they listed them as the "same ones used for PS2 games" but it doesn't appear they stock those right now so I can't look it up.

Hey, those Scanavo cases do look pretty sweet... I might have to pick up a few... but where to put them... I already have such a huge collection of blank cases in all sizes and colors... I need another room in the house... 3 bedrooms, office and a general junk room

Kingsama, iNetDVD has Alpha Triple and slim-triple cases, black only... they may have white... not sure... give'em a look.
