Thanks for the kudos, Jay. Means a lot. Really. And, while I admit that many of my posts do drip with sarcasm, this comment is not.
Just remember all, if you do use this letter, you will have to tailor it to who you are sending it to. Obviously, remove references to the name Ebert or his position as a film critic, the ref to the Chicago Sun-Times, etc.

This would never work, but has anyone bothered to contact the starwars.com?
Of course they would never put up a banner ad, but it would be funny just to see their response. Or not since they might get mad and shut us down. Still the idea made me laugh.

I just reread your letter Bossk. Its till top drawer.
However something did occur to me.
A friend of mine emailed Roger Ebert when we were writing our thesis papers this time last year. I forget the exact response, but I know it contained references to him being very busy.
My only suggestion for future letters are to keep them brief. This indeed sucks because I don't know what of your letter should be cut. All I can think is a shorter letter might be more likely to be read. thats all.
Again I like the letter as is, I'm jsut trying to think strategically.

I can see the pieces that need to be taken out in order to distribute it to other people. But, in terns of shortening it, I think Bossk should; he wrote it....it would be wrong for any of us to harm it
No please, go ahead and dice it up. The problem with me doing it once is that this letter really should be tailor made to the site you're sending it to. If you have a webmaster's name or another critic's name, fill it in the blank. If you know of their title or if they are the premier something or other (Greg Dean Schmitz of Yahoo Upcoming Movies is the premier distributor of movie rumor information, for example), then change the statement about Ebert being one of the most respected critics around to fit this fact. Change the letter so you're doing a little "sucking up" without making it obvious. Just be respectful of the person you are sending this to and don't make it sound like you are too terribly desperate, but you want their help because you know that if they support you, it will very clearly help the cause.

Yeah, let us know about AICN, Scumb. That would be a huge boost since the readership for his site is a lot less specialized than TF.n. Imagine where that post would take us in terms of numbers.
