Just how much money do you think Episode III will rake in?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

The reason I didn't go that low is that no SW movie has ever made less than $290 million. Even though some of the public might be burned on it, this is the final episode of the series (or so we hope). Here are the U.S. Box Office totals for the first five movies...

Episode I - The Phantom Menace - $431,088,301
Episode II - Attack of the Clones - $310,676,740
Episode IV - A New Hope - $460,998,007
Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - $290,475,067
Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - $309,306,177
(courtesy of Box Office Mojo)

Maybe it won't be as good or bring in as many people, but ticket prices are constantly on the rise. So that'll make up for it.

Oh, and go fig that my fave episode is the lowest earner. Aye aye aye.

Adjust for inflation. You'll see that AOTC was the worst money maker of the bunch.
In fact, using the adjustments, the values put them in the order they were made.

Wow. So basically the box-office returns of the films have goten progressively worse.

That sucks.

But not unusual. Only a handful of sequels have actually made more than the original films.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Inflation aside, I still can't believe the The Empire Strikes Back, the true masterpiece of the saga, made the least money of all the films. What was wrong with everybody? I know about the sequel trend, but Empire was not your average sequel.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side

1 million, Bob!
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

Yeah, but look at it in terms of the time it was released. Few, if any, sequels had ever come out by 1980. Most considered the success of ANH to be a fluke anyway so they never really gave Empire a chance. And the ending of Empire was such a downer that most "non-fanatic" fans were unlikely to see it without knowing that the story line would ultimately be resolved. Imagine if you had seen Empire, but very few others did making it a horribly attended movie. Then, due to the lackluster BO, Jedi was never made. You'd be left hanging and I think some people may have been afraid of that possibility after hearing from reviews or from friends that there was some big, depressing cliffhanger at the end. In retrospect, it's brilliant.

As you say, it's not your average sequel. But did they realize that back in '80?

Just possibilities.

Yeah I was. But I was five. Usually you don't give much of a damn about anybody else other than yourself at that age.

Oh yeah. Right... my bad...

I actually expect Episode 3 to make more than 277 Million. I just through that figure out there to see what reaction it would get.

Actually, a British Pound is almost twice the value of an American Dollar

But one pound coulding be equal to the box office returns of a big budget movie.

Except catwoman.

I think if they ever publish Catwoman's Box Office returns they will convert it into yen and conveniently display the fact that it was converted at the very bottom in size 2 font.

Here is the real info in case you want to know:

"BOX OFFICE SUMMARY
Box Office Total: $40,173,429
Box Office Opening: $16,728,411
No. of Weeks in Top 10: 3
Highest Ranking: 3 "

Its sad that Catwoman even broke the top ten.

Good point. And I'm sure there will be fans that go to see the Wookiees/Kashyyyk.

BTW, how do you make the pound sign on a keyboard?

Why don't they just put those as the shift functions for brackets?

I mean who ever actually uses braces?
