Yeah ive got the radio times and its in there too

Star Wars - 29 Dec
Empire - 30 Dec
Jedi - 31 Dec

on ITV1

Theyve put the years of the films as the originals but who knows what versions theyll show. Im guessing the special editions.

Even if they're DTV (they've been on DTV in the UK before, so this is certainly possible), they may not be advert-free, widescreen OAR, or anamorphic. In fact, they never have been before, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

The best English-language broadcasts remain the Fox 480p, widescreen OAR, anamorphic broadcasts of Empire and Jedi. No ANH, and there were ad breaks every few minutes. Still, they're not too bad. A few glitches (originating from Fox, not the affiliates), but decent most of the time.

IIRC, last time ITV showed the OT they were the special editions, 16:9 (but not OAR).
That was the first time I ever saw that the Sarlacc had been turned into that carnivorous plant from the Little Shop of Horrors.

I saw an ad for the trilogy on ITV. It showed a clip of the original ESB Emperor and it looked like a dirty print. Probably still the SE though...sulk.

Well, it could be worse and be the 2004 version... x.x;;;

The TV guide my wife picked up today lists ANH as year 1977 (probably a mistake), the description of ESB and ROTJ mentions "re-edited version" and lists the years as 1997.

ANH has just been on - deffo the 97SE version

Watching it again, I can't believe what a wuss Wedge is when he gets hit in the Death Star Trench Run!

He could have stayed with them instead of bailing out - acting as another ship for the 3 Imperial Ships to shoot at, or took one for the team, or even slammed on the brakes for the following ships to hit him!

Wedge = Wuss

Yeah, I never quite understood why they didn't just hit the eject button and fire R2 into the three tie fighters - lack of a rear gun is a big failing in seemingly every spaceship design.

So if they had replaced the R2 units in the x-wings with ewoks with a pocket full of rocks, the death star would have been a pushover - And a huge cheer from the audience when an ewok caught a bolt to the head a-la R2 in EP IV
