The blu-ray world can't even agree on what a good disc should look like and how it should be done.
Isn't that the truth!
Bill Hunt has failed to reply to me too on several occasions. Why he puts his e-mail address up is anybody's guess.

I'm just saying... ;-)
But seriously, I thought he did that for everyone. Sad really.

I sent him a completely unrelated email a few years back.
He never replied.
Seriously.

Glenn Erickson, the critic who calls himself DVD Savant, has spoken out against Lucas' revisionist history, so perhaps give him a shout-out. One could try Mark Kermode, though he's always hated SW. Maybe he could plug he petition on national radio in the UK. Shoot for any other critic you can; try maybe Alain Silver. He's friends with Christopher Coppola, which is a long shot, but hey, what the hell, Christopher's website might have contact info too. See if other critics have ways of contacting them on their websites; Kim Newman, Alan Jones, etc. Try letting any stars who Twitter or Facebook know. Make so much noise that it can be heard in places with limited media access. It doesn't much mutter, but anyway, try ANYTHING and everything with EVERYONE as soon as possible and get as many people as possible involved.

Yes; I really enjoy his reviews and respect his opinion. He seems to give balanced judgments on controversial releases.
We really need someone like Roger Ebert though. He once called Disney out on their practice of cropping Snow White and other pre-widescreen classics to fit modern theater screens, and they listened. Subsequent reissues were pillarboxed.
Has he ever weighed in on the special editions? I can't recall if he ever reviewed them...

Contact him too. Try to get a hold of Andrew Sarris, Elvis Mitchell, Robert Osbourne, the people at TCM interested in film preservation, Kenneth Turan, celebs who Facebook and Twitter, ANYONE you can.

That's worth a try I guess, but Lucas doesn't really care what any academic film-type says (and vice versa), they all blame him for the death of serious movies anyway. But luckily James Cameron is a billionaire, i.e. a person GL might actually value the opinion of. And he's already put it out there, in Entertainment Weekly no less. Which is the exact type of shallow, mainstream promotional venue LFL actually cares about. (see this year's upcoming G4 Star Wars infomercial)
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I sent an email to Roger Ebert once, several years ago (about something unrelated to SW) but I got a reply.SilverWook said:

I don't recall if I ever sent him an email about the SW debacle, but I know I sent one to Leonard Maltin about it- he replied but seemed resigned to the idea that George only does what he wants to do, blah, blah, so I don't think he'd be of any help.
In the age of Facebook and Twitter, it might be easier to get ahold of some bigger names. Cameron expressed his dissatisfaction about things, maybe the folks over at G4 might make noise, ANYONE. Make the last stand so loud that even if no one listens, they'll go deaf anyway.

The ending of DVD 2004 STAR WARS Return of Jedi Anakin Hayden Christensen seemed embarrassed in some way and it looks fu%^*(king ridiculous it even made me cringe.
Only the originals from the 70mm six-track Dolby stereo Dolby format 42 will sound better on DVD/Bluray.
Wrong thread.

This is something I mentioned in another thread but I really do feel it is important.
Now, we always knew that there would be a Star Wars Blu Ray. And we always ask, "will the OOT be on it?" Maybe it will, maybe it won't.
Now, however, we know that the Blu Ray is in production. It's being worked on right now and LFL representatives are publically admitting to this. And if rumors are correct, it is set for release in late 2011. We have right now the opportunity to give a big push and let them know--WE WANT THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS OF THE FILMS PROPERLY RESTORED. We have only a limited window in which to do this--they could easily change their plans and the make the OOT included in the set as late as spring 2011. After the thing is done, however, who knows how long it will be until another release. Five more years? Maybe more. We have to be aggressive and the time to do it is now.
So let's do what this site was created to do. I know we have the petition going. But let's actually start writing to Lucasfilm and letting them know how much we want it. Write them an e-mail, mail them a letter. I personally vow to send Lucasfilm a letter a month for the next 6 months asking for this to be done, and I'm going to match each letter with two e-mails. Maybe it's a bit of a long-shot. But we all know that our protests and the existance of this site had a lot to do with the decision to release the films in 2006. The problem is, we started writing them letters after it had been announced that the DVD was the 1993 DE. Let's pre-empt a disappointing announcement by helping shape what that announcement could be. There are an awful lot of us on this site and I know that our combined voices will be heard if we shout loud enough. Tell your friends, contact other websites, let's try to actually organize and do this.
Who is with me?
EDIT
The mailing address for Lucasfilm is P.O. Box 29901, San Francisco, CA 94129.
Why are people against the star wars blu-ray releases??? They have better graphics and movie-looking quality. They aint full of the crappy cgi-overload of the prequels, yet they have the nice better modern-looking graphics......
You really don't get the main point of this website, do you?
And you bumped a two year old thread...
