I've bought some songs from iTunes lately that I've been digging.

I really like the Stereophonics and they have an iTunes only EP of six tracks. Just bought an iTunes exclusive track from Alicia Keys.

I also have been digging the new track by The Who "A Real Good Lookin' Boy" which is a song about Elvis. Plus some older stuff like Joe Jackson's "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" and The Doors' "Peace Frog".

Has anyone here ever heard The Kinks' "Catch Me Now I'm Falling"? I swear the first time I heard it I thought it was Kiss. Ray Davies voice sounds spot on for Gene Simmons and the guitar work sounds just like Ace Frehley's riffs. Then there is the second vocalist who, at times, sounds like Paul Stanley. It's eerie.

"Last Goodbye" by Poets Of the Fall

"Tuesday Morning" by Melissa Etheridge

I'm not much of a fan of the most recent Etheridge album as local radio stations have already killed it.

Dunno Poets of the Fall. What are they like?

In the last month I've picked up The Thorns (Matthew Sweet, Shawn Mullins and Pete Droge do country-rock), Jayhawks (Rainy Day Music) and The Flaming Lips (The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots). All great stuff.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Didn't care for the Thorns as much as I thought I would. I really like Droge and Sweet, but I hate Mullins (in terms of their solo stuff). I wish there was more Droge sound to their music.

I will admit that the Thorns album isn't as strong as Rainy Day Music by the Jayhawks. That's a really solid album, as are the 2 Flaming Lips albums (though I give a slight edge to Yoshimi).

I PICKED UP PROBOT WHICH GOT REALLY BAD REVIEWS BY CRITICS. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT THE CRITICS ARE TOO YOUNG TO REALLY KNOW WHO EVERYBODY IS THAT PLAYS ON THE ALBUM AND TOO YOUNG TO APPRECIATE REAL HARD ROCK. I LOVED THE WHOLE ALBUM WHICH FOR ME IS A RARITY.

That's kinda funny because all the reviews I saw of Probot said it was surprisingly decent. I almost nabbed a copy of it used at a record store in St. Cloud, Minnesota, when I was there a month ago. But a guy we were with really, really wanted it and I already had 3 or 4 CDs in my hand that I was going to buy, so I gave it to him to purchase. He e-mailed and said it had its high points. Not spectacular, but not at all bad.

I'm still a bigger fan of the older Flaming Lips albums. Much the same way I am with Radiohead. I'll listen to their new stuff, but it just all sounds so different anymore. Plus, like my problem with Melissa E., local radio has killed FL's "Do You Realize?" I want to give Yoshimi another spin so I'm having my friend loan it to me.

Is anyone here a fan of Big Head Todd and the Monsters?

See, here local radio won't touch FL with a 40 foot pole, but the song has gained increased exposure through (1) a Mitsubishi commercial; and (2) a scene in 50 First Dates. I'd say it's my least favourite song on Yoshimi; I like Fight Test better.

So long as the rest of Yoshimi is not like "Realize", I may like it.

Not a spyware issue for me. More the fact that my company blocked out all Gnutella clients. Can't get on any of them. I could from home if I had the patience to wait through a 56K modem download which I don't.

Just picked up a bunch of David Bowie CDs from the library. I love his stuff.

Reality, Earthling, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (30th anniversary edition), Black Tie White Noise, and Changesbowie.

Already have his most recent greatest hits album and Heathen on my computer.

Wasn't the Supreme Court; it was the Federal Trial Court, so the decision is still open to appeal; remember Shimmy, I'm in law school.
