I noticed a new newsgroup today! alt.binaries.fan-edits

I wonder what should go in there? Hmmmm… Let’s fill her up, people!!!

(Oh, alt.binaries.criterion is a new one as well. No posts in that one yet either.)

I'm sure it'll show up soon. Newshosting has it.

I just sent AstraWeb an add group request, so it should show up in the next 24 hours.

just checked and a.b.fan-edits was not made the correct way, it has no ISC charter or control group
Author

Which is probably why it still didn't show up on AstraWeb today.

How do you check on these things sega?

What the story with this?

From what I can see, there is an incorrectly-constructed control message in alt.config from someone calling themselves "be". (The message includes a copy of the originaltrilogy.com forum rules!)

(FWIW, I would suggest that alt.binaries.movies.fan-edits or alt.binaries.multimedia.fan-edits would be a more appropriate group name, but anyway...)

Now however, there does seem to be a control message archived on isc.org's ftp server. But the details don't look correct at all:

Posts are being made to this group now. I imagine we can start using it.

Only a couple posts so far, a Star Trek Timeline, and something for twilight zone and planet of the apes.

For me, this group shows up on my newshosting account, but not on easynews. I guess it's still filtering through.

Hopefully, this can be a good place to get the non-Star Wars edits. The only reason i'm able to get so many of the star wars stuff is because of the newsgroup; i'd never be able to manage that much with myspleen, and don't know how to get into the snail mail stuff.

I'm excited

It showed up on AstraWeb this morning (it may have shown up last night, but I checked this morning).

The only trouble I've ever had with myspleen is keeping my ratio up. That shouldn't be a problem after today
