1 - Thank you for making these available.
2 - I am having the same problem as others- I tried typing in the password directly but am still stuck on the Terms of Agreement page as well. Help would be appreciated- thank you.

PM’ed.

Perfect- thanks, for your help!

To any of the many people who have successfully set up proboard accounts, did anybody run into the problems people are describing in the last few pages?

I created a second account so I could sign in as a non-administrator and see if it caused me any problems, with the hopes that it would, and I could use the experience to help those with similar issues.

But it did not, other than making me type the chosen password rather than copy and paste it. So I’m not sure if there is some other obstacle, for which I should include advice in the guide, that I’m missing.

If you had similar problems to what people are describing when setting up your proboard account, but were able to find a way around them, a post on this thread or a PM to me would be welcome. That way I could update the guide in the first post, and make it even easier (but not TOO easy) to acquire the NJVC sets.

Many thanks again to Solkap for making these ISOs available on Mega.

I created a Proboards account ages ago and seem to recall having some issues at the time. I’ve had another go tonight at making a new account to see if I can replicate any of the aforementioned problems.

Here are some observations:

  • Using the first link provided to register for a “Global Account” (https://www.proboards.com/register), I also get stuck at the “agree to terms and conditions page” just as several posters have discovered. Clicking on the link to view the terms and ticking the box to confirm I have read them doesn’t help; the page just refreshes when clicking to finish the process. This registration link may be a dud as I can’t see how to get to it from the Proboards main page.
  • Using the link in step 2 instead and clicking on “register” does work, however. This appears to be registering for one specific forum only, namely “Swesbrotjbrmls”. I believe this is what worked for Alecthelm a few days ago.
  • Although this second link worked better, the activation email process was quite flaky. I didn’t get the email automatically, and had to click on the “resend” button twice before getting anything at all. (It wasn’t hiding in my spam folder either.)
  • Once the activation is complete, the new user should find they are automatically logged in to Solkap’s forum. In order to log in at a future time, it is important to enter the username, not the display name or email address.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bluto,

Dang man, that kinda stinks.

The whole idea was to sort of replicate what tehparadox used to do. Namely, it was supposed to serve as

          A. a log-in barrier for obtaining the list of links, while also being
          B. a simple barrier to get past with an easily created free account.

“A” has been successful, but “B”…perhaps not so much.

Anybody have any alternative suggestions for a place to make a free post that will require a log in to view, but is less of a hassle to join than proboards is turning out to be?

What about changing the link in step 1 of your guide to this one?
Apart from the activation email being a bit flaky, it works well enough. Pressing the “resend” button a couple of times until the activation is sent is no big deal IMHO.

Wouldn’t that solve the problems, or have I misunderstood your post?

I have no problem with that whatsoever!

That link seems to make it clearer that a user would be registering for the specifically mentioned forum as well.

After entering your email, does it take you through the same registration process?

If so, I’ll try it and see if people seem to need less help.

Yes, exactly the same process except that it doesn’t just refresh ad infinitum on the terms & conditions page. Everything works smoothly except possibly for needing to give it a few prompts to send the activation code by email. Apologies that my post on the 8th wasn’t clear enough, and thanks for continuing to make these available on Mega.

Updated!

BTW, how did you generate that more specific proboards link in the first place?

I used the link in step 2 of your guide, but clicked on “register” rather than “login”.

Had to re-download a couple, but I just got all the pieces.
Let me say THANK YOU!
Been looking to get these since I first heard of them in Dec 2016.

This is probably out of scope for this specifically, but is there a way to get the optional bonus discs njvc mentions?
OPTIONAL BONUS DISCS (fanedits)
STAR WARS: Adywan’s Star Wars Revisited (DVD5)
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: njvc’s Pulp Empire (BD25)
RETURN OF THE JEDI: TMBTM’s War of the Stars Parts I&II (DVD9)

Star Wars Revisited:
I was able to find a DVD9 via fanedit.info (I’m assuming DVD5 above is a typo)

Pulp Empire:
I found an MKV via https://archive.org/details/PulpEmpire, but the original thread (http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Pulp-Empire/id/15498) mentions a BD25 or DVD5.
Do you know of any way to get either of these?

War of the Stars Parts I&II:
I found a DVD5 of part 1 only via fanedit.info and both parts are on vimeo.
The vimeo files are in DVD MPEG2 and can be pulled with youtube-dl to master my own simple DVD9, but is the original referenced DVD9 available somewhere?

Thank you.

Sorry, no, that’s all I have. And you seem to have already found the alternative sources for SWR, PE, and WOTS:I&II that I’d have suggested. But you’re always welcome to try posting on other threads or messaging other users here to see if anyone else can help.

George Michael: You’re right. My girlfriend Ann wants to have a Christian music bonfire here.
Michael: That sounds like some mild fun. I think we’ve got some Christmas music.
George Michael: Oh no, it’s not a “Christian music” bonfire. It’s a Christian “music bonfire.” You know, where we burn all satanic music. The thing is though, the only music I have is either instructional or humor.
Narrator: He’d been particularly fond of a CD of something called The Jerky Boys.
Michael: Hello.
George Michael: Hey, nitz. Hey, jerky. I want to buy a house, Dad. It’s gotta be big.
Michael: You-you said, “Dad,” buddy.
George Michael: Shut up, jerky.
Maeby: Hey, George Michael, Jesus called, he wants your Thriller album.

Narrator: And finally, George Michael and Ann’s Christian music bonfire was underway.
Uncle Paul: Eh? Eh? Without ever going to the gym.
George Michael: I can’t believe how many people you told about this.
Maeby: I hope I didn’t confuse people by saying it was a CD burning party.
Steve Holt: Great party! (Laughing.) Maeby, I burned, like, ten CDs from somebody’s MP3 player.
Ann 2.0: This is a disaster.
Maeby: You know, maybe you should try listening to some of the music.
George Michael: Some of the artists are kind of talented. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of The Jerky Boys. They do these prank phone calls. It’s kind of old school, but… I have the tape in my room. I accidentally didn’t burn it yet.

No problems whatsoever (using the version of the instructions approximately two weeks ago from the date of the posting). Proboards account and Mega downloading all working A-Ok.

I am still looking for the Pulp Empire edit however.

Harmy has put up a video on youtube - just to remind everyone that Fan Edits must never be bought or sold.

Personally, as a member here, I’d encourage everyone to watch it and upvote that video.

Watched and upvoted. Also, because of these fan edits I was actually encouraged to now start collecting official Steelbook’s of all the original films. So you could say it was the work of these fan editors which caused me to go out and buy the originals, not the other way around. lol

Is this the same release as the one on MySpleen with subtitles added or the one NJVC described in the comments?
There NJVC said:
“Hi all, I created this bluray. I’m currently working on a new version which will have a better video quality (thanks to Towne32 providing me with the lossless source file), hopefully DTS audio, and subtitles. I will also be working on a dual layer 50GB version with many extras added.”

No these are the new ones. But these are also on my spleen you need to do a user search for NJVC and view his uploads.
