*sign* yet another typical response from a Cowgirls fan. I suppose next you'll show me your five rings? No need tell you what you can do with them.

Never thought I hear myself say it, but after that halftime interview of T.O. on espn, I am forced to. *sigh*.........................................................................

T.O. must go.

T.O., get the hell out of my city. You greedy spoiled brat!

I know the chances of winning a superbowl without him are slim and none but I ask: At what price glory? I will not have my team turned into the Philadelphia Cowboys just to win the Superbowl. I will not have my team turned into what I hate and revile just to be champs. I will not turn to the darkside. Again I ask: At what price glory? T.O. must go. I take no joy in any of this. T.O. must go.

I like college football. But if you want to discuss it, please create another thread. The tittle of this thread is "NFL"

That was perfect.

They have a kick-off, and no one grabs the ball.... and it cuts to commercial! And four minutes later it gets back, and it's first and ten... And they throw the ball and no one catches it... and it cuts to commercials! *sigh* two minutes later it's second and ten, and they succeed and run all the way to the field, but no, wait, yellow flags thrown into the field, and the referee speaks to everyone saying facemask and whatever, and the coach challenges it, and the referee goes to watch TV and... cut to commercial...

Football is a TV-friendly sport, commercially speaking. Sports in the US are way too commercial driven. That's why the real football (aka soccer) dosen't suceed in the US. Not to say that our football isn't too commercial either...

You know what I'm going to do? I'll tape the Superbowl and cut down all the interruptions, whenever the play stops I cut directly to the next play beggining. It'll be about 30, 40 minutes of a VERY cool game.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. YEAH, BUT AT LEAST IN HOCKEY THE PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS MOVING. THERE IS A HELL OF A LOT MORE SKILL TO THE GAME AS WELL.

Howdya figure that? Is there any running and/or catching during which you have to worry about guys twice your size smashing you to a pulp in hockey? I've been doing that for the past four days, and it ain't no walk in the park.

Not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing about the difficulty of each game:

1. Skating is going to be more difficult than running. Possible exception: football in the rain (mud).
2. Twice your size? No. However, fighting in hockey is tolerated. Football does not allow it at all. I would have to consider Hockey to be the rougher of the 2 sports.
3. The end zone is as wide as the field, and all you need is for the guy with the ball to cross the plane. In hockey, you've got a (forgive the factual errors, you get the point I hope) 6x5 goal area that you must hit the puck into, assuming you can get it past the guy in the padding that fills some 75% of that area.

1. The skating would make hockey faster, but in football you're under about 30 pounds of padding, running as fast as you can trying to catch a pass (if you're a receiver), which would at least make it more strenuous, in my opinion. Plus I've heard of broken legs and ankles resulting from cleats getting stuck in the ground with large men tackling them.
2. In the heat of the moment, it's kinda hard to fight one particular person when every other player on the opposing team is trying to tackle your ass too.
3. Yes, but you have to get the ball past a line of about 10-12 very large men who don't want the ball to cross that plane. My ass has hit the ground plenty of times trying to get through that defensive line, and even a weak defense is still pretty rough.

All in all, I'd say it's difficult to compare the two, since they really aren't a whole lot alike.

Sorry, that came out sounding worse than I meant it. Dayv is right this is not the first time we've gone off topic. I'm sorry. Please feel free to talk about college football here. I would also like the idea of a college football thread.

and somtimes a player takes the ball on kickoff and runs it all the way back for a touchdown. Thats the bueaty of the game anything can happen. As for the commercials, is that the fault of the game itself or the people running the game?

As for me, I love football. I like all three NFL, College, and Highschool. I still go to all old highschool's games. I love it, no commercials, no overpaid spoiled brats, no Cowboys(a team wouldn't call themselve the Cowbays the Philly area), no seat licenses and I don't have to worry about my team moving a way because the town didn't build a new stadium. I also don't have to take out a loan, just to buy a ticket and food and drink at the game. A game with food and drink usually costs me a total of $5. Pretty cheap compared to an NFL game. And unlike the pros, the players actually care about the results rather that what they are being paid. And unlike college football, in my state we actually have playoffs. Believe it or not, some of greatest football games I have ever seen were not NFL games, not college football, but were in fact high school football games.

Yes, I think I knew that. From what I know, highschool football is big in Texas, real big.
