My Custom DVD Covers

Hi.

I've been lurking for a while, been keeping an eye on all the original trilogy projects. I think it's great what you guys are doing. Since GEORGE didn't release the original trilogy, and since I bought his DVDs (thinking it truly was the original trilogy), I don't feel the least bit bad downloading or buying bootlegs. He robbed me of my nostalgia ... and I cherish it, especially when it comes to Star Wars.

Keeping that in mind, I decided to make classic looking DVD covers. I used the original logos and poster art for the front covers. I borrowed someone elses fonts from one of thier custom covers, hope they don't mind, I didn't even know who made them.

This is my first try at this (any advice to improve them would be cool). Hope they look OK. The originals are 300dpi. I had to shrink them down (and they lost some quality because of it) because the site hosting them doesn't allow photos bigger than 250k. If anyone wants the originals, I'll have to find a site that will host them ... or I can just email them to you.

Hi,

I have a website hosting many different Star Wars covers including an upload section where you can upload your covers in high res.

I have to say that, overall, I really like these covers. Yoda looks a little squat on the back of ESB, and I can tell you squeezed the ROTJ image to get it to fit (Couldn't you have resized it smaller?), but other than those minor quibbles, these are the kinds of covers I'd like to see on an OT DVD case.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

I'm glad you like them. Like I said, this is my first attempt making custom DVD covers, EVER. I don't own PhotoShop ... so I feel like I can't do the best job possible. I'd be glad to send scanned parts of my covers to anyone who can do a better job with them.

As far my ROTJ cover, it was actually stretched from a scan that was 400dpi (all the covers were stretched the same way, by the way). I don't know how to resize it with out it stretching it. It's fine on the height part ... but the width is the problem because the picture is the shape of a sideways rectangle.

Anyway, if someone wants to work with it before I upload it, e-mail me.

Well, I uploaded my covers to http://home.pages.at/grisan I just can't find them ANYWHERE.

What's the deal, Grisan?

Anyway, they'll soon be at this site once it's up:
