September 12 is right around the corner -- it's the date that the Star Wars trilogy DVDs will be available as individual movies, each one packed with a bonus disc containing the original unaltered theatrical version of the classic film.
It's also the date that LucasArts releases LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy videogame, the fun follow-up that combines the classic Star Wars story with the imaginative building power of LEGO.
In anticipation of these releases, starwars.com is turning back the clock to focus on the original theatrical releases of the three classic Star Wars movies, with informative features that will help set the stage for these historic films. Read about what life was like in 1977, 1980, and 1983, and get ready for inside looks on the DVDs themselves.
It kicks off next week with coverage devoted to 1977's Star Wars, before it was known as A New Hope, and continues the following weeks with Empire and Jedi. Look also for continued coverage of the LEGO Star Wars II game, including drawing activities that will help fans of any age realize their favorite heroes and villains as LEGO characters.
Next week also starts the Star Wars Summer Road Trip! As reported previously, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Wicket are hitting the road, traveling to a dozen cities across the U.S., beginning with Miami. Is your city on the list? Your snapshots that best capture the spirit of these characters and the saga may win you a trip for four to Star Wars Celebration IV. Read here for more details, and start submitting your photos next week!
Now, which versions are the bonus material?
