Making a dystopia movie this summer

Hi all,

I'm Trooperman from the old forum.  I signed up in 2005 and did the rough cut of "Shroud of the Dark Side", which some seemed to find interesting.

Anyhow, I'm making a dystopia film in black and white this summer, and not having any connections and having a laughable budget to work with ($500), but wanting this movie to be incredible, with 50 different sets and over 50 actors, I thought I would start here.

I live in New Hampshire.  If you live in the New Hampshire or Massachussetts area and think you would like to help out this summer, could you send me a PM?  Or if you live anywhere but you think there might be a way you could help out this summer over the internet somehow, could you send me a PM?

Thanks!

P.S. I can get into the plot more if you are interested.  I don't think anybody here would steal it before I got the movie made!

The way I see it, a studio would be nice, but I'd rather make it now on a shoestring budget and have absolute power over everything than make it with a studio and compromise one bit.  This is a film I've wanted to make since I was 16, and I want it to happen this summer, no matter what.

There was a migration from older forum software at one point. Can't recall what year it was...

I've decided to nix the newer account because I hear that the mods are stricter about converting over to a second account now...

Anyway, I've been thinking about this movie and what a monstrous project it would be to get the number of actors and personnel and sets together for this June, so I've set it for next June, June 2016.  Believe me, it's going to be good.  But I'm going to start taking names down now so that next year, I'll actually be able to shoot the damn thing.

In the meantime, I think I'll do a smaller feature this summer, with only two actors, in black and white.  A psychological thriller.  It might be interesting.  I can keep you posted if anyone wants to see it when it's done.

Yes, multiple accounts is a major no no. (Multiple personalities are your own lookout.) If you're sure you want to stick with your old one, I will ban the other one to prevent shenanigans.

Just logistically 50 different sets is INSANE. If you're giving yourself a year, I strongly recommend taking a good long look at the script, and finding scenes that can take place at the same location, or be shot on the same location standing in for different locations.  Just travel will kill you.

I shot a film where a small box canyon, with a couple props and different times of day and angles stood for four different locations.

I acted in a film where a racquetball court was both a dystopian prison cell, and with the addition of a file cabinet  and a plant, served as a office for a close-up dialogue scene.

 Hi Silverwook,

I still have the password for this one, so go ahead and ban the other one.  Thanks

Thanks for the insight; lots to think about.
