I’m just waiting to hear his explanation of how he hasn’t bought a star wars release since 2006. Shame he can’t watch despecialized!

Don’t you read? He won’t offer an explanation. He’ll bring it up unbidden, but he won’t explain it. Explanation’s not in the cards. Explanation’s for the birds. Explanation’s [insert own idiom of choice here].

Maybe have the new trilogy take place thousands of years ago. Knights of the Old Republic slightly. Only worth it seeing in cinemas, not worth owning, even as a gift or a present. I’ve refused since 2006.
No, I don’t need to explain.

Are you saying you haven’t bought any Star Wars video releases in the past decade? If you’ve been downloading projects sourced from those, you have some explaining to do.

I haven’t wasted my time downloading any Star Wars projects. Of course I have downloaded projects for the multitude of other movies I have in my collection. Not even sure if I’ve even posted in the Star Wars preservation or fan edit sub-forums.
I’ll quit derailing the thread with the nonsensical bullshit explanations about my collection and focus on what the thread topic is about. Does this Trilogy need the Episode moniker with it or can it stand on its own? I’d choose the latter. Would I go see this in cinemas? Why not?

Cool.

Especially none of yours which is even cooler. Thanks for the trademark threadcrapping.

The new trilogy should take place thousands of years ago, Knights of the Old Republic-style.

Woah, just realized that if you put EP and IX together, it is ‘EPIX’.

That’s nothing if you put EP and HS together it is “EPHS”.

Haha yeah, I got it from reddit’s star wars speculation forum. Everyone calls it EPIX there. I’m not really a forum person, but I was curious to see what different parts of the Star Wars fandom thought about the new movie.

There’s no way it’ll be that long before Johnson’s trilogy comes out. It’s already been announced, meaning it’s probably in pre-production. I expect it it’ll take over the saga film’s role of being the big movies releasing every two years, with the spinoffs releasing during this trilogy’s off years.

Since this isn’t a saga trilogy, though, I really think not making it three parts would be nice. It would help it feel more unique. Might I suggest four parts? It could be the last SW before the franchise goes on hiatus, eventually leading to the…uh…Post-Sequel Trilogy? Second Sequel Trilogy? It’s just gonna be called the Fourth Trilogy isn’t it. sigh Anyways, Episode X would release around 2030.

I think my way is the better business plan, but what do I know? SW doesn’t have the story diversity that Marvel movies have. For better or worse all of them kind of have the same stuff, even more than Marvel. To drum up GA excitement they will need to starve people for a while (5 years minimum). For the uber-nerds who will never get tired of SW, they can make TV shows.

But your way doesn’t suggest starving the market anymore than mine does. It just suggest delaying a project already in development in favor of a brand new one. Yes, TV series count as the series not being on hiatus, even if there’s no new movies. Unless it gets stuck in developement hell, the first installment in Johnson’s spinoff trilogy will release in the early 20s.

And are you really that sure that Marvel movies are inherently more diverse?

At this point it’s unlikely there will be a gap of more than 2 years between movies, so including spinoffs let’s say there’s a likelihood the gap will be no more than 4 after EpIX and the next trilogy.

As for content and tone diversity, they actually have to try or it won’t work for long. Gangster stories, westerns, Jedi tales and war movies are a good mix… if they put the effort in.

DISNEY CEO SAYS THEY WILL BE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT THE VOLUME AND TIMING OF FUTURE STAR WARS MOVIES GOING FORWARD

I made the timing decision, and as I look back, I think the mistake that I made — I take the blame — was a little too much, too fast. You can expect some slowdown, but that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna make films. J.J. [Abrams] is busy making [Episode] IX. We have creative entities, including [Game of Thrones creators David] Benioff and [D.B.] Weiss, who are developing sagas of their own, which we haven’t been specific about. And we are just at the point where we’re gonna start making decisions about what comes next after J.J.’s. But I think we’re gonna be a little bit more careful about volume and timing. And the buck stops here on that.
