I really enjoy Electric Youth and wish they had done more…but I can’t stand that. Mostly because I can’t stand the original it’s based on.

If you want to take a little experiment on what music in that style could sound like if actually done well I suggest giving the first and possibly second album by Static X a whirl. It’s that same kinda nu-metal but it’s actually done well and isn’t irritating.
