This is Land of the Dead.
Last year we had Dawn of the Dead and Shawn of the Dead.
I remember commercials for these weird "cult" films and they advertised Donna of the Dead.
I did a little IMDB check...we also have:
Land of the Dead
Night of the Living Dead
House of the Dead
The City of the Dead
Legion of the Dead
and the list goes on.

I knew I wasn't the only one but I didn't want the be the one to ask the question.
I just can't get enough of the grue and anything new by Romero automatically falls into that catagory. I am way more exicted about this then anything else that has come out in the past five years.
I'll be there opening night. I can't wait.

Me too.....am definitely there opening night!!!
For the uninitiated, this is the Dead Trilogy:
Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
Dawn Of The Dead (1979)
Day Of The Dead (1985)
I would highly, highly, highly recommend Dawn to anyone who hasn't seen any of them. It is by far, the most popular of the 3. Night and Dawn have been remade. The Night remake is worth seeing. I hated the Dawn remake. Supposedly there is going to be a Day remake, but I hope not.
The films are not stupid, brainless horror flicks. There is some serious social commentary in each one that reflect the decade in which it was made. You will find that Romero is a very, very good writer and doesn't cheapen his story at all.
These movies are not just mere cult movies, they are in the upper echelon of great horror films. They most certainly should be seen.

I know those films, I know Romero's work, and have seen some scenes from Dawn and Day, but I haven't seen those films because they are completely unavailable here. Maybe if they release an uncut box with the 4 films, I'll buy it.
I doubt there will be a set of all 4 films together.....I think each one is owned by a different company. I think Dawn and Day are owned by the same, but Night is definitely owned by another company. Universal will own Land, so a set of all 4 is very unlikely....

Hi i just watched that movie Shaun of the Dead,
I've heard it was pretty good...but I have yet to see it though.
On a similar note.....a good sort of spoof/tribute to the Dead movies is Return Of The Living Dead. That movie is just waaaaaay too funny.

For folks who haven't seen Romero's original zombie films= please do. They work on so many levels, from gore to slapstick to social commentary. Just forget all the crap knock-offs and remakes that are out there. Pop some Jiffy-Pop and spend this coming weekend watching all three originals.
'Dawn' had always been my favorite, but the more I watch 'Day' the more I like it. It was a definate change from the comic-booky nature of 'Dawn' but is very, very effective.
And Cable- Return of the Living Dead rates as one of my all-time favorite films. Funny, gorey and and perfect offshoot/homage to the Romero films. Plus, its the film that gave us "Brraaaiiiinnnnssss...." and a line I so often repeat- "send... more... paramedics..."
Good thing I'm seeing Batman this Weds, as I'll have the weekend and next week to re-zombify myself!

greencapt.....I get what you mean about Day. I've seen it a few times and always thought it was good, but never really clicked with me.
Then when it came out on DVD a few years back, I bought it, watched it and for some reason, just totally clicked with me. I kept feeling compelled to watch it again and again. It's been a long time since that happened. I can't get enough of that movie now. It's a total tie with Dawn now, IMO.
Return is one of the total gems in horror. I'm sure many simply dismissed it and probably didn't get that it was a homage. It's not to be taken too seriously at all. And it has some great one-liners!!!
Send more cops!!!
That part in the beginning when the one dude used the pick on the cadaver....."I HIT THE FUCKIN BRAIN!!!!"
Or the part with the chick dancing naked in the cemetary with the bad-ass punk dude....."No one understand me, man. You think this is a costume....this is a way of life, man. Yo man, show some respect for the dead."
