Isolated Score Tracks - Your Wishlists

Author
Time
Hey there, everyone.

I've been a bit miserable lately settling into Uni life, having to deal with less money and less time to spend on my hobbies, family, friends and girlfriend. Anyway, when I get depressed I dig deep into my movie music collection and listen to my favourite stuff for a while. So, I'm not offering to create isolated score tracks - but I am asking which ones you think should exist and why. Think of this thread as a simialr one to the "Fan Edit Request Thread". Please, everyone who enjoys film scores (and being primarily Star Wars fans here, there should be a few John Williams fans at least ) join in with your ideas.

By the way, I'm a fan of this way of thinking: If the movie is wall-to-wall with music, that's just fine to have an isolated score. However, if there are significant breaks in the score, then there should be commentary by the composer in those breaks.

I have a lot of music and if I had the time and NTSC DVDs of my movies I'd make some tracks, but since I can't I've listed mine below in the BIG list that compiles all your wants/wishes/suggestions.

I'd like to have the entire Planet of the Apes series with isolated scores! VERY ODD FUNKY stuff there!!

Rikter! You're just like me! I've bought a few of the CDs of the POTA series score with the intention of creating isolated score tracks one day. I never knew anybody else would be as crazy as me!

It's nice to see some replies already. Thanks Rikter & Ell.

Oh and Rikter....

Here's my list of CDs that I plan to use one day (with the ones I have in bold):
* Planet of the Apes (Official CD - contains a suite of music from "Escape")
* Beneath the Planet of the Apes CD
* Conquest of / Battle for the Planet of the Apes CD
* Escape From the Planet of the Apes (Pony Canyon bootleg CD)
* Escape From the Planet of the Apes (Soundtrack Library bootleg CD)
...and possibly:
* Planet of the Apes Live-Action TV Show Score CD
* A german compilation CD which may feature an exclusive track (it's called "Ape Shuffle")

I was sure that I'd read about a release for the music of the animated POTA show, but I must have been getting confused with the live-action show's CD.

BLADE-RUNNER. EVery soundtrack ever released for that movie is shit, because it does not have much music from the actual film.

I would give my metaphorical left nut for Dave Grusin's Goonies score.

You can make complete isolated scores for You Only Live Twice, Dirty Harry, Magnum Force and Logan's Run as all of those have been released on CD and are complete.

Neil

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

"You Only Live Twice" is missing the trumpet and string music played under Bond's fake funeral aboard ship at the start of the film.

I know it's just a very small cue, but it bugs me that it's not on the extended soundtrack CD.
It's the same way with the Star Trek: TMP soundtrack. That extended CD did not include the music played under the "Capt. Log" sections of the film. It's small, but I WANT IT!

I have the You Only Live Twice, Dirty Harry, Magnum Force extended soundtracks, but not Logans Run.

Nope, it's on there. I just listened to it to make sure. I have the complete album cut apart, but I have a 1:58 cue titled, "Burial at Sea". According to my notes, it can be heard in the middle of "James Bond in Japan".

Neil,

Of course you are 100% correct. I just dug out the official CD, and there it is. For some reason when I made my compilation CD-R of the score in sequence I somehow cut that cue out. I've been only listening to my CD-R, so I just assumed it was not on the official version.

Sorry, did not intend to hijack this thread…

Of course! Fanfiltration, how could I forget the Bond films? Incidentally, have you ever visited Composer's Cut? If you have you'll know why I'm asking, if not, let me know and I'll post a link.

Blackjack:
Annoyingly, I think that the first "Mummy" film with Brendan Fraser did have an isolated score track on its first DVD release. Unfortunately, the subsequent releases have removed this (and many other special features).

Rikter I wholeheartedly agree with Transformers and the Hisaishi scores. If I was to find someone with the actual CD of the complete score for Transformers (as opposed to the complete score in MP3 that I and many others have) that would be a high priority one for me to do, and I intend to get the NTSC DVD of Transformers: The Movie anyway (as well as the Metrodome Reframed one, or whatever it was called).

This is correct. I believe it was under the Languages or Soundtracks menu. If you let the menu play until the end, it started playing the isolated score. I have this DVD, and enjoyed listening to it from time to time.

I believe the reason this was changed, and why many DVD's don't have this anymore, is because people won't double-dip and buy the CD soundtrack.

I wanted to make an isolated score track for my "DUNE" edit. Unfortunately the producers and editors did such a hack job on the soundtrack to the T.V. version it would have taken me years to reassemble and re-edit the music cues to fit the movie.

I love the final credits song on Dune...almost makes me look forward to the end.

[EDIT] I think I just found that soundtrack on WinMX.

The first release of the Mummy had Goldsmith's score as an easter egg, in 5.1 sound in fact hidden in oneof the menu options.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Call me crazy but Id like to see this as well. Dirty Harry Trilogy too.

While we're at it, Fistful of Dollars/Few Dollars More/The Good, Bad & Ugly would be nice as well.

It's great to see such a response to this thread

I wanted to add a series that I'd actually forgot to list in my first post: Halloween. I've got 6 Halloween CDs so far, there are 4 left before I have them all. I would really like to see isolated scores of these. That's why I set about purchasing them. I have the Varese releases for 1-6. I need to get the 20th AE for the first Halloween, Halloween Resurrection, Halloween H20 and Halloween: Returns to Haddonfield (this is the convention soundtrack).
