Introducing... Pennsylvania Jones!

Hello, there!

I'm a lifelong Star Wars Fan of the newer generation.  When I was young, I remember thinking the Prequel Trilogy was cool (not good, cool), and I never gave the Original Trilogy much thought.  Of course, that was until I found out that there was a DVD of Star Wars with two versions.  That got me interested in the Original Trilogy.

I was more drawn to the Original Theatrical version (y'know, the crappy laserdisc transfer known as the GOUT?) than the Special Edition because the lightsabers in the GOUT looked better and more like the prequels than the Special Edition.  (Which is odd, because the reason Lucas made the Special Editions was to match the prequel trilogy)  Besides, the video quality looks pretty much the same on a 22" 4:3 TV.  I've grown to like the Original Theatrical version better than the Special Edition.  HAN SHOT FIRST!

Other interests of mine include Indiana Jones, Scamper the Penguin (both Indy and Scamper are in my avatar), Lost in Space (both the awesome 1965-1967 TV show and the awesome 1998 Bruce Broughton Concert/Robot Demonstration/Light Show), and, most recently, The Secret of NIMH.

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

Welcome!  Stick around, we always need more people in off-topic.  Especially semi-weirdos.  ;-)

Thanks!  Actually, I'm not really sure why I put "semi-weirdo" in my title, but I guess that'll prepare you for anything I may say. :)

Hey welcome! Glad you found this site and appreciate the Original Trilogy. I'm part of the newer generation, as well, so it's always nice to see there's more of us young people interested in this type of stuff. You'll find a lot of help on this site, if you're going to be doing video editing and preserving. Nice avatar by the way :-)

Out of curiosity, by newer generation, do you mean after 1998, if so, congratulations you're ot.com's newest youngest member!

It astounds me how quickly people respond here!  It usually takes hours for someone to respond over at Indylounge.  Here, responses come within minutes!  I'm not going to expect that forever, though.

And thank you, Falcon.  Are you a fan of Scamper the Penguin, BTW?

And no, I wasn't born in '98.  I was born the last time the Unaltered Trilogy was released, as well as the first expanded Raiders of the Lost Ark Soundtrack.

No; I've seen clips, but I've never seen the whole movie. The avatar does come across as funny despite my lack of familiarity.

RedFive, he means on laserdisc LOL... which matches the year of the expanded Raiders soundtrack.

I know, I didn't really think he was five year old.

No, you did!  YOU TOTALLY FELL FOR IT!

Oh my gosh, you are so gullible!

*laughs until he cries*

You thought he was 5!  Buwahahahaha!

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Rewrite the Prequels!

Welcome!

You have great taste Mr/Mrs/It Jones...

The secret of NIMH is one of my favourite animated films too. ;)

Falcon, Scamper is pretty cool.  If you search Youtube for "Scamper the Penguin Rescore", you'll find my fan edit.  It's a definite improvement over those juvenile songs that used to be there.

Red Five, yes, I meant on VHS/Laserdisc.  I forgot about the GOUT there, for a second...

Bingowings...  [grabs machine gun and blows away all Nazis in the room]  Don't call me Penny.

Green Penguino, that's awesome that you're a fan of Secret of NIMH!!!  Now, I have a couple of questions for you: First, are you a good scriptwriter?  Second, do you think Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue is worse than the Prequel Trilogy?

Yes, he writes scripts.

And no, Secret of Nimh 2 looks like Citizen Kane in comparison.

I'll be sure to check it out...

EDIT: Saw and it looks nice! I did enjoy all that classic 80s movies music. It looks like a well animated, nice cartoon. Sad that Youtube wouldn't let you upload it in full quality though.

Ziggy, I haven't seen Citizen Kane, so I don't know where you're going with that.  What I do know is that I don't hate five of the most hated films in history (The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and the Lost in Space Movie), and yet I do hate Timmy to the Rescue.  That ought to say something about its quality.  If you like Timmy to the Rescue (or you just hate the Prequels with a passion), then I'm okay with that.  For me, the prequels just exist.  They're not something I like or hate at all.  Now, will you let Green Penguino speak for himself?

Falcon, thanks for the comment, the commiseration, and the subscription! ;)  The next time I upload a video, I'll try to upload the full quality versions of the rescore.  The compressed version just isn't the same...

I don't hate any of those either.  I think a lot of people here grudgingly accept the prequel films for what they are, plus, fan edits of the movies can definitely improve them.

Also, I enjoyed Crystal Skull, as did a few others on here.  We were just talking about that recently.

I still hate Crystal Skull.

I will never understand what people liked about it.

However, I don't let it get in the way of my enjoyment of the original three! In fact, sometimes I even forget that it was made.
