Not very descriptive but due out this year. Please let this be right and not tinkered on...and maybe have the original Dolby Stereo mixes...

I'm not banking on there being the original sound mixes - this is a Lucasfilm movie series, after all - but the more recent HDTV rips actually look stunning.  I'm curious to see how the Blus will step up that quality.

And we know there won't be any tinkering, these are Spielberg's movies too... hell, he might actually be crazy enough to re-add the reflection in the snake pit.

It's 2.5 for me. Raiders, Temple and half of Last Crusade.

I'd be happy with a straight transfer of the Dolby 70mm mix to 5.1 like the DVD mixes supposedly were.

I'd be happy with them all. My hatred of Indy 4 has kind of settled down lately. To me it's the highest quality thing George Lucas has done in 20 years.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I would hope all the vintage documentaries are included, and not sourced from ancient, washed out video masters.

I was never looking forward to this announcement because I knew I'd still have to wait a couple of years for the movies to be released separately as opposed to a box set.

Not long ago I was thinking maybe, just maybe, it will be just a trilogy box or at least a couple of different options because it's a kick to the balls to people who already bought Skulls having no option but to buy a four movie box set. Not only have they bought a shitty movie, but they'll have bought it twice.

Well predictable ol' Lucasfilm, this doesn't surprise me...

I definitely wouldn't rush out and buy this 'Complete Collection' as soon as it is released but I may get it eventually if the wait for the single blu-rays is too much to bear. If only there were a way to get amazon.com to remove that piece of shit fourth movie from the package before they send it to me.

To be fair, it's usually cheaper to buy a 4-film boxset than 3 individual blu-rays. You're better off having an extra copy of a film than spending more for less. If anything you can sell it or give it to a friend.

I'm hoping there are finally deleted scenes on this. TOD alone has some fairly decently sized subplots cut out.

Zombie I agree with the price (hopefully) of the boxset being more attractively priced than buying three separate blu-rays (it usually is in these cases), but you're making logical arguements. I am not logical when it comes to such things.

I bought Alien and Aliens 1 discs on blu-ray for $15 a piece when for only a couple bucks more I could get the whole anthology with two extra movies and all those extras. I don't even loathe part 3 and 4 I just think they're soulless sequels and I'd never watch them nor the mammoth amount of special features, so I had no need for them.

So I'd be happy if in this case they released the single movies alongside the Indiana Jones boxset but price the movies at $25-$30 so the boxset looks like a bargain in comparison and I'd gladly shell out $75-$90 for just the trilogy. I'm sure the purists out there would happily pay $30 just for Raiders.

As for selling off Skulls* I'm sure with this announcement they'll be a whole bunch of used Skulls* blu-rays going up on ebay in anticipation of this boxset, flooding the market.

*Does not refer to the Paul Walker film from the late 90's *shudders*

Ebay sellers inevitably break these sets up. They did it with the SW Blu Rays.

I am so excited for these. Indy, along with Alien and few other personal favorites are the types of movies that I will continue to buy over and over again no matter what format.

I'm wondering if Raiders will this use the Lowry scan or the new 4K restoration that has had a print or two play occasionally in the past few months.

Still one of those film series I want to see in archival 35mm. And this probably won't stop me from buying the LDs.

So I keep hearing, but I've never seen one. I still need ANH!

New trailer up slightly edited to be correct: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=56BCZTkJmeM

Confirms Raiders will use the 4K restoration I had a few issues with, and deleted scenes. The trailer has bits from the deleted swordsman fight and looks like the scenes on the SW blu-ray, probably scanned from 35mm elements laying in the vault.

Why the silly book packaging? It's bound to be more expensive to produce than using super cheap thinpacks, and the discs are bound to be damaged. Well, I don't care what happens to the Skull disc.

Whoops, did I pull an Entwistle and use it for skeet shooting...oh dear...

what's a skull disc and why do I hear talk in this thread of a fourth Indy movie?   There are only three.

They are showing "Temple of Doom" in 35mm this summer in my city.  They're showing it 3 times and I'll probably go all three times.  I believe it will be an unrestored print.

It's a commemorative coaster included as swag inside the box. ;)

Trooperman, that should be an original print of Temple. Only Raiders had a restoration, and the Lowry work for the DVD wasn't done for prints. Wonder what kind of shape its in...I'd love to see it!

I hope you changed this back to the original, Senor Spielbergo. No more listening to George!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_sFW8grQtU

I doubt I buy this set until it's super cheap during a holiday sale or something. And I hope the blu-ray and geek community learned last year to not put money down for anything with Lucas' name on it until you know what's really in the package. But I trust Spielberg to do this release the right way.

I know I read a review somewhere about an HD showing of the trilogy earlier this year. Someone perhaps at AICN reported the movies were intact (truck going off cliff reverted to original shot in Raiders). The only change was the snake reflection was still scrubbed out, and that's such a small change (probably for the better).

Looks like I'll have an extra copy of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.
