I just saw on a local magazine the before and after photos of that woman... And I got SO pissed because there are kids reading that freaking magazine, why do they do that?! They sometimes put pictures of dead corpses from wars or something, and disfigured people, I hate when they do that. The AFTER photo was VERY surprising, she looks very good. There is an obvious scar, but the whole thing looks pretty good.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

This reminds me of some of the medical reality specials they show on TLC, like the one about the boy from the South Pacific whose face was almost completely consumed by a tumour. Disturbing stuff.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

They do that, I believe, because they want to show reality, not a shielded version of it.

I've seen stuff like that on TV too. Horrible. Bloody sensacionalist media. And they say that they must show "the truth, no matter at what cost", oh come on! That is no excuse to show stuff like that. So, based on their logic, I'm entitled to show porn at any time I want.

No. They mean that, when reporting news, they should have the right to show what really happens, instead of shielding their audience from the truth or telling outright lies. And they shouldn't be prevented from that, asthat runs into the ideals of a communist country (controlling what your audience does and doesn't see to the point of leaving out what you consider undesireable). I doubt a news association would have any reason to excessively show porn, however.

I WATCHED THAT ONE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I WAS SAD TO HEAR THAT THE LITTLE BOY DIED SOME TIME AFTERWARD FROM PNEUMONIA.

I've got news for you AWK. Every single news company presents the "truth" in their own way, according to their political, financial, and social mandates.

A story reported on CNN will greatly differ from one reported on CBS, for instance. They have different agendas and skew the stories to fit that perspective. There is no such thing as the truth, as seen through your television or read in your newspaper. The North American media is just as guilty of it as a 'communist country,' as you say.

I'm saying that they generally don't attempt to shield things from their viewers. Opinion or not, they show reality.

Nah, they show whatever will shock and get ratings. Sometimes it is reality, sometimes it's hyped up bullshit. Whatever the case, you can be certain you're never getting the whole picture, you are getting a tailored version. Anyone seen that DeNiro movie '15 minutes'? It's a pretty poor movie (what the hell happened to DeNiro anyway? He seems to be making a whole load of straight to video garbage lately). Anyway, even though it's quite a lame film, I think it emphasises my point about the media quite well.

War does not make one great.
