I’m looking, if anyone can find it, it’s said that it’s quite hard to find anymore, for a copy of the 1972-1984 Warner Bros. logo, to use in a fan edit of a movie released during that time period, the closest pic I can find of it is this for Warner Music on Wikipedia:

Thanks if you can find me it, and thanks even more if it’s 2.35:1 (approximate AR of the movie I’m editing)

Think it was used on The Shining, but I only have it on VHS.

That logo is indeed used on the DVD version (at least here in the UK) of The Shining, but fullframe (though maybe it could be cropped to 2:35:1?) and with an orange background.

I suppose anything's better than nothing... WB's known for plastering, and it looks like the movie in question got plastered twice... (I'll name it once I actually start hacking away, it gets a lot of fan editing)

The logo is, I think, usually, white on black on red? It's been years since I saw it.

I think you could probably find it on most pre-1984 Warner Laserdiscs. I have a really old Japanese LD of The Shining with the logo, but the video noise is terrible! (Zooming in on the logo to 16X9 didn't chop anything off though.) All the old Warner Video titles have the blue and white logo on the cover and have either a reddish-orange or green border like this one.

I don't know, as I haven't even *seen* it since 1985...

It's on Superman: The Movie. Probably also used on any of the Dukes of Hazzard series.

I find it ironic that the Special Edition of THX-1138 actually restores the old pre-1972 WB shield logo.

Yes I do. Even though this film is only 1980...

OK, Superman 1 has it? As long as that's true for the NTSC R4 I've been getting off BT (yeah, I admit to warezing most of my movies), then it should be perfect. I already marked Superman 1 as a "possible necessity" for the project ...ok, so you've probably figured out what I'm trying to do... all I have to do now then is find a copy (online or IRL, depends, since I won't have the money for it 'til the 1st), of the Donner cut, and I can splice it all together.

OK, I just realized my previous post sounded a bit confused. What I'm trying to do is recreate most/all of Superman 2 RIC in widescreen - and I figured while I was at it I'd try to unplaster it, hence the request for the flying W.

BTW, just thought I'd randomly mention the other project I'm working on is dub-over-raw work on Pokemon. 9th movie debuted last night (ran over by an hour and caused a conflict with something else I was going to capture >.<, I have been doing dub-over-raw to try to recover as much uncut stuff as I can. That and my Star Wars project are my biggest projects.

Superman 2 RIC in widescreen sounds good to me

I class myself as an 80's child. Because the music, the movies at the time, TV, even the artwork for the promo campaigns, and the imagination, all were freash, and stimulating, not like the borrowed and refreashed ideas that are churned out today. Yeah okay, theres a whole new market that lapps up this borrowed stuff from yesteryear now, but i still think the 80's was a time that could have been expanded upon rather than exploited. Pherhaps, i may be old hat and may even be wrong but some-one please correct me with how the 90's or the millenium has taken this golden erea forward.

Sorry if i've taken your thread off topic Molly.

I agree!

I was born in January 1980, so the 80s were my decade.

if you still need the logo, i believe the dvd of Scorsese's Mean Streets has a good one.
I'm always looking to trade my edits, if you don't want to get them from a torrent. PM or e-mail!

thx, I've taken it from Superman 1, though it wasn't the logo I thought it was (it's a special version for WB movies that weren't actually made by WB, which is as true of Superman 2 as 1).

I'm going to go for the gusto here, with 2 fan edits...the DVD almost-RIC for which I have another thread already, and after that, a second cut of Superman 1 and 2 that...

1. Deletes the Lois dying/Superman turning back time from Superman 1, and adds the aftermath of Superman throwing the Hackensack rocket up into space from Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut into Superman 1 at the very end with a "TO BE CONTINUED..." (cf. the original script)

2. Combines elements of the Donner and Lester cuts of Superman 2, I want to redo the titles though as I hate that damn font Arial Black they used for the Donner Cut.

3. Uses the turn-back-time ending to Superman 2.

I'll prolly use this logo
http://www.usotsuki.info/supes-wblogo.png
for all these movies. The \\' grows from the center of the screen, then RELEASED BY WARNER BROS. fades in, that's what Superman 1 did, it only seems fitting.

I've got a little bit of the RIC-partial-reconstruction done, up until the "who's using the hair dryer" line...

Interesting, I found a Warner Bros. logo similar to that on my old laserdisc of "The Neverending Story" last night. (Placed after the closing credits.) One they missed plastering over!
