dark_jedi, I meant the film itself.  I've only checked WM and Target, haven't had a chance to check BestBuy or FYE yet.  Are they carrying it?

I didn't even know this was coming out so I was surprised to see it earlier in an FYE. I also saw a new release of the Breakfast Club which was long overdue.

I finally found a copy at my local Best Buy tonight. I was certain they would bury it in the SciFi section, but they faked me out and put in the comedy aisle instead. ;)

Curiously, they used a white box like Disney does. I want to do an A/B with the old Laserdisc, just for fun as the opening credits on that were letterboxed slightly.

Hey All...

Just noted this older thread concerning my all time fave 'bad film', 'Howard THe Duck'...and was pleased to see there were so many fans interested in the HTD2 DVD that was created before it was finally officially released...I actually obtained the fan edit version you guys all took part in creating here, and I have to say it was a damn good job, in a lot of ways, BETTER than the official one.

Oh, by the way...I'm the guy that created the 'cecinid' Howard site that most of the 'extras' on the fan edit came from, I was honored you thought enough of my collected clips and pics to use them (including the animated Lea thompson 'underwear GIF' I did, LOL!)

And for those that still have an interest in visiting said HTD website, it has a new home...

Thanks again, you guys...and great work!

THE HD version had been available for  years,  i can watch it legitimately in HD on my cable service for rental.   There is no way the disc will be a new transfer it will be the OLD HD source unless Lucasfilm treats Howard better than Star Wars.

Universal lays on the DNR button a little too much these days, so an old transfer might not be a bad thing. Several of their catalog HD DVD releases are better looking than the later Blu Rays.

You can always count on Shout! to release a US Blu-ray though (they got a deal with Universal).

Yeah, they are releasing a lot of 1980's Universal horror flicks that haven't seen the light of day since VHS. Howard would be a no brainer for them. Shout might even be able to license the music video as an extra.

Been keeping my fingers crossed they could somehow pull off a special edition of the MST3K movie, with all the deleted scenes. ;)

Probably a good time to mention the Blu Ray finally comes out in the states next week?

Necrobumping.
Glad I own both the USA and Australian Blu-rays. Picture is marginally better on the AU disc but all-in-all, it’s a so-bad-it’s-fun movie which still has its charm.
Never owned this on DVD but I think I might have.
