How Did You Find OT.com?

How did you guys come across this site? A few of us have already posted about this in the hate thread, but we figured it would make a good enough thread in itself.

I don't mind posting this twice.

I was looking for torrents of the SW: Clone Wars series, and found them at Myspleen. Also on that site, I saw the TR47 discs, and in the comments, someone brought up this site. I came over here, read a few threads, signed the petition, joined the site, and proceeded to not post for the first few months.

Link on digitalbits.com about a month before the petition was actually up and running back in the very beginning of '03.

I post it here again as well.

I wanted to see if it was possible to get a decent set of the originals on DVD, so I started looking around the major Star Wars websites and kept seeing references to this "originaltrilogy.com" and then typed in "original trilogy" on my browser and there it was a link to this place and the petition. I signed the petition and lurked for a few weeks before joining upto the forums...

Yeh. I googled for something "original trilogy". I think I was searching for a backup of the old starwars website and tried all kind of keywords, ot.com was among the first page of hits - the rest is history.

I had signed the petition shortly after it came about. I actually may have even registered for the forums at that time but lost my login info if I did ( ) so I re-registered why I had something to say again. Errr, or something like that.

Same here, but the petition was already up when I started with the forum. This is actually the first forum I ever joined.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

This is about my fourth or fifth forum and, at the time I signed up, my third one. But this is the first one I stuck with for longer than just a few months.

My friend and I were doing nothing but bitch about how GL was screwing us, and one day he came across it. Was like the lightbulb went on and I've been lurking ever since.

I had heard about it months before it started on TF.n. Myself and a few others were working together on some sort of petition to Lucas, and one of the guys somehow found out about Jay and his idea. The reason I have my OriginalTrilogy yahoo email address was to create a mailbox for people to respond to our own petition.

I was so ready to be one of the first people to sign Jay's, but things got really busy, and so I had to settle for being in the first thousand. It went very quick in the beginning!

Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

I found this site one day back in July when I was searching google for a bootleg of Return of the Ewok. And I ran across ocpmovie's preservation of it. After reading some threads, I signed the petition and started posting, and I've been here ever since!

In the hype of the 2004 DVDs, I started doing some Internet researching, finding out, to my horror, that the DVDs I'd preordered featured even more changes. And in my searching, I found this site and immediately signed the petition. I lurked for about a month or so before ceasing coming here. It would be another nine months or so before I actually signed up.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I used to be a MillenniumFalcon.com junkie back in it's hayday. Someone from this board (I can't remember who anymore) PM'd me a couple of times about something (my preservation project I think). Included was a link to ot.com. I followed that link out of sheer curiosity and now look at me. Curse you whoever you are (were)! I thought I'd be done with Star Wars after ROTS.

I joined after hearing someone lambast this site over at Millenniumfalcon.com as well.

So you checked it out due to curiosity, then?

EDIT: Er, due to curiosity as to why it was being put down, to clarify.

I don't remember, but the people on MF.com make fun of everything and everyone anyway, so it was nothing new.

There were literally like 9,000 signatures in the first couple days. The site was buggy as hell too when I launched it because the signature database filled up within hours. No idea it would be so popular. Bill Hunt was such a fucking pain in the ass about getting the site up. Impatient, opportunistic asshole. As soon as the petition lost its steam and we needed support like his the most, he bolted. Guess there wasn't anything in it for him at that point. He had the nerve to criticize the design too. Has he even seen his own site?

Wow. That's a story I wouldn't mind hearing in greater detail.

I've been lurking for a while (I can't remember how I actually found the site in the first place - my best guess is a bit of Googling), but I didn't actually register till recently. I did sign the petition at my first visit or so, though.

Yeah, but it certainly puts things in perspective. From other random posts of yours here and there, it just seemed like you had this vendetta against him for no real reason, other than the fact that The Digital Bits posts every news story I read at two other sites a day or more after I read it to begin with.

On topic, I originally found the petition linked from DVDFile.com (before that site went to the crapper). I signed the petition and then came back again later after finding Prillman's site and buying a copy of the SWHS on eBay. This is definitely my favorite of all the forums I've been on.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

LOL! No, but like ReverandBeastly said, it puts in perspective posts like that one you made on Bill Hunt's reports on the BR SE.
