Help Wanted: Help me identify a documentary?

I recently re-caught the SW bug, and I need help identifying this documentary I saw once that really got me into SW.

  1. Broadcast on TV
  2. Around the time of EPI release
  3. It’s mostly about special effects…there’s a segment on the Endor speeder bike chase, how they storyboarded it using action figures
  4. Another segment on the actor stand-in for hangar Jabba and the final CGI shot
  5. Features EPI factoids: Naboo waterfall = salt; Podrace audience = Q-tips
    (see edit) 6) It’s most likely NOT “From SW to SW: The Story of ILM”. I downloaded the babyhumdvd release (bh004) and there wasn’t an Endor or Jabba segment.

Thanks for any help. It’s really calming to find a forum called OT.com.

EDIT: I was wrong. Part of it actually WAS “story of ILM”.

I can say I've not only seen this, but I did record it as well. The only thing I don't know is....WHERE DID I PUT THE TAPE?!?

I was going to say the ILM tv special from 1999 too. Is it possible you just mentally joined the ILM special with one of the 1997 SE specials (these are really the only TV specials that ever featured the SE Jabba footage)? Because to me thats what it sounds like; they were only 2 years apart.

Oh by the Force, I'm so sorry. I JUST found the Endor tidbit in the "story of ILM" documentary. I have no idea how I could have missed it when I watched it last night. Will re-watch in case the Jabba scene is in there as well. Good lord.

You're most likely correct. It's absolutely possible that there was a two-hour special, one half of which is the ILM, and the other half of which is a re-run of one of the SE specials you're referring to. Can you tell me the title[s] of the specials you're thinking of?
