Substance abuse is not always a fast track to an early grave, David Bowie, almost all the Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, George's Boy and Michael, Courtney Love etc, etc.
On the flipside there are plenty of drug free people lost to eternity.
In any case mortality is a real pain in the arse.

Never too surprising when a junkie dies young.
Lost one of my best friends a couple years back. He would've been 38 now.
Still, I'm sad to hear it. I enjoyed Haim's early work.
Ditto Brad Renfro and he was even younger.
Maybe I'll bust out Prayer of the Rollerboys tonight.
Ok probably not, but Lost Boys is a definite possibility....
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

While reading this story I was confused by the now most popular story of the day.
For a minute I thought that the same fate had fallen the other Corey and then I seriously entertained the notion that I had dreamt the original story which had turned out to be bizarrely precognitive or that I had passed into a parallel dimension or something.
So software glitch or year old nostalgia it was a bizarre few seconds.

Maybe you should have linked to the article you are talking about instead of the article about the fallen statue that linked to your article. I don't see any of the "Most Popular" stories that might relate to this thread. Everything is about Iran, Egypt, and Mars simulations.
