I have to agree.  This just like the first Avengers didn't do much for me and was way over-hyped.

 No soup for you!

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

 Lol.

It was fine, certainly enjoyable in many ways, but definitely overrated.

I recently installed Unreal Tournament 2004 for old time's sake, and then I found someone had made a Rocket model for the game! :)

Do you agree?

How do you feel about the current state of CGI? Good enough (for Star Wars 7?), have you given into accepting it more or less, or still bothered by CGI characters?

CG still looks unreal but what can a person do but accept it. Thankfully some filmmakers have been trying to reincorporate practical effects.

I think Rocket and Groot were the first CGI characters where I stopped thinking about the FX and simply accepted them as real.

I'm guessing the CGI characters in Episode 7 will be otherworldly creatures that would be difficult to pull off any other way. As opposed to the clones in the prequels.

This was a thought in my mind. I wonder how intentional or significant the human-CGI interactions really were in making the CGI feel integrated. I did like the point about the shower scene and makes me wonder if there is something to this theory - although Rocket getting his clothes shoved at him didn't really seem in sync. Planet of the Apes 2 worked for me, though maybe there was too much thinking about the CGI being really good, and not just accepting it?

True, but have we gotten to the point at least that CGI can no worse than puppets? Yoda wouldn't work for me as CGI with current technology, if ever, but maybe with a character we haven't seen?

I think I agree with SilverWook about Rocket and Groot really getting believable and not just CGI-y.

Rocket looked real. Groot looked fake to me.

It's hard to find a real sentient walking tree for the animators to study. ;)

Saw this last night.

I would post my impressions about the movie, but unfortunately I've entirely forgotten everything about it.

But based on the lost time, I think it was about two hours long.  So I guess there's that.  That movie sure was two hours.
