Maybe someone should call them on the pay phone and go HA-HA (Nelson Muntz voice)

BTW - the number for the pay phone outside the Grauman's Chinese Theater is (323) 462-9609 (hint, hint)

Must be fun to be unemployed and have no discernable life whatsoever.

No, it must be sad and pathetic.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

It was sarcasm.

How can they not open it at Grauman's? It's a tradition! Has George forgotten the puzzling sight of seeing people lined up around the block in the May of '77 and suddenly realizing they were there for his movie? And don't slag off the fans in line too much, some of them are raising money for charitable causes.

how does one raise money for a charity by waiting in line?

The same way people raise money in walk-a-thons I guess. There are details on the fundraising here.

I have a newfound respect for them. I never realized that them waiting in line was anything more than personal in motivation in terms of being the first to see the movie. Okay, I'll stop slagging them.

I will just walk right in and watch the movie with no wait at all in my little hick town of Kentucky. Thats the way it was for the first 2 movies anyway. As a matter of fact the theater was not even full.

<--- Will be drinking in the theatre with friends of mine that work there and catching the movie the night before when the print comes.

And then going to see it in Digital if I like it as much as I hope I will.

A 12:01AM was offered for TPM, and I attended in Cleveland. When I bought the ticket, I just walked up to the box office and bought it (a few days earlier). There was no line.
There was quite a crowd at the theater that night though.

There was no 12:01AM offered for AOTC. I don't remember now if I got my ticket early or not.

If there is a 12:01AM for ROTS, I will attend. If I feel the need to buy the ticket early, I will.

Changed your line to fit me.

i am a bit surprised. I don't know if any of you have been to the Arclight - but I have to say it's technically far surperior theatre than the Chinese. it's easily the best public theatre I've EVER gone to... not only is there someone to watch the 1st few mintues and ensure the print is *clean* and in *focus*, the sound is incredible and at a proper level, the seats are thronelike and reserved, and for the several films I've seen there the audience actually turns off their phones and doesn't talk out loud (which, to me, is worth more than anything else).

Having said that, seeing the last couple Star Wars at the Chinese with that huge crowd was a lot of fun. People totally get into it cheering and whatnot. Like when we see Leis kiss Luke and the entire crowd erupts into "ewwwwww!!!!!"

The Arclight is the new facility built around the Cinerama Dome, right? I would have loved to see one of the films at Grauman's, but only have had the pleasure of hanging around the courtyard checking out some famous droid and sith lord footprints. And who knew George had such tiny feet?
