This sounded really neat. It's sad to see it never materialized, for whatever reason. If the original poster see's this, PLEASE either A) Finish the project and upload it to the noid, rapidshare it, something... or B) PLEASE upload all the material you have ot send it to a few other people in here who can and are willing to finish the project for you.

This was a great idea, I hate to see it die a crappy death like this. It's really sad that both these projects saw a sad demise. If either of the guys working on these see this, PLEASE give us an update, and if you've created new threads, a link to those.

For those who know (and those who don't) I did complete the DVD with a few adaptations along the way. It ended up moving into a 2-disc set... so, instead of having the 1st disc, full of material and the 2nd with a few minutes on it - I tossed out the request for those with more material to add to the 2nd disc .... needless to say I received no replies to my, "hey, let's collaborate" offer - unsure why, it's not like we are going to get famous or make money from creating such packages.

My project sits on a shelf - all by it's lonesome - waiting for me to pick it back up and continue... but essentially the 1 disc was completed with a good chunk of material. I just felt I wanted to expand into the 2nd disc because I would rather have the material than discard it and have it be lost forever - but did not want to have, repeating myself here, a 2nd disc with 5 minutes of material.

Why not put out a "volume 1" so something is out there and then do a Volume 2 later if someone with content finally decides to contact you? Just curious

I agree, why not put out a "volume 1" and a "volume 2" instead of holding onto it until a 2nd disc is created. Also, are you trying to fit it all on a DVD5? In that case, why not put it all on a DVD9 instead of a DVD 5, or use a shinking program like dvdshrink to compress it so the last 5 minutes fit?

As for extra material, I know a few ppl in this thread have posted they found or have info, but got no response back. If you want more material, why not read up and ask them.

Been there and done that - the response I got was that they would rather do their own project themselves instead of collaborating.

I did, originally, make it a volume 1 - but the person I was performing the work for did not like the 'volume 1' moniker. As to using DVD shrink - I think we all know the general quality of the material that most people have for these DVD's and dropping the quality down further would just not be right. I would rather put out the 1st disc as is solo without any follow up. And, hopefully, this could prompt those who state that they are 'making and releasing the ultimate dvd of bonus material' to actually do less talk and more action!

I don't really know much about DVD authoring, but there's a HDTV version of Ghostbusters floating around that has a WAY more detailed picture, is it possible to convert this for DVD use? That would fill up disc 1 and then disc 2 could be all special features?

I admit I am not equipped with all the details, and I am sorry if I assumed anything wrong. Please help me out, as I'm still confused. I noticed y ou have a different SN than the original thread starter, and the other person in this thread (NeilB) who wanted to do there own piece. If this the same project as the thread starters, or is this NealB's project, or something differnet?

Either way, I'd love to see you release the work. I understand your DVD shrink thoughts. I just figured 5 minutes wasn't a ton of material to compress. Could you author it for a DVD9 (Dual LAyer DVD)? I'm sure you've thought of that though, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

At any rate, if you want to release it as is, that's still better than nothing. You can always release it as is, not as volume one, and if you ever do a follow up disk (sequel, volume 2, etc), name it as you see fit once you get to that point.

I do hope to see this work though, as it sounded like a great I idea. Here's to hoping you all decide to put it out, even if it's as is.

There is a version of the Ghostbusters video where the celebrity voices can be heard in the mix saying "GHOSTBUSTERS!".

I just captured this 'voices' version off digital television in PAL with minimal logos. If anyone is interested in using it for any GHOSTBUSTERS-related project, send me a PM.

Man, what a cheesy song/video.

It was the mid- 80's.  That was the style.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Does the project is finished ?

If yes, PM me, I'm very interested.

I did find GHOSTBUSTERS: The Criterion Collection LD at my local record store but it was the CLV version so no go. I've always wanted to have a second disc of features to compliment the Blu-ray release.

I am new to this whole Fanedit thing, but I am digging it in a big way.. Out of ALL of the projects on this site this one speaks to me the most. I was wondering where this project was sitting? If the project is dead I was wondering if there is still interest in finishing it. I would be more then happy to carry the bitton so to speak.

VERY MUCH INTERESTED IN THIS.

There is also the full GB TV Commercial that plays in Dana Barrett's apartment before the Fridge sequence as a bonus video on the PS3 Ghostbusters video game. Not sure if it's on the PC version. That could be ripped.

Give me a shout as even a VOLUME 1 would be awesome to own.

Might want to add this:

Who is that addressed to?  Seems like everyone that was involved with this project has disappeared from the forum and abandoned said project. :(

I would LOVE to see a ton of features on GB and GB2.  The movies are truly my favorites and honestly, I know there are a LOT more behind the scenes, news spots and extras, especially for Ghostbusters 2.

I would love to pursue and re-open this project if possible.  I would be more than happy to assist in putting things together.  I own a licensed copy of Adobe Premiere elements and know a little about VirtualDub and some other video correction tools.

However, I think the scope should be broadened a bit.  This should encompass both Ghostbusters movies and also the sequel currently in pre-production stages.  GB3 has been an ongoing rumor for a decade or more.  Who knows how many interviews have been given to cast/crew members about this!?  A ton!

We might want to tap into the vast knowledge base at GBfans.com and protoncharging.com as well as other GB communities.  I'm sure there would be a wealth of help for us there....

I have the CAV LD of Ghostbusters, and just to rub it in I also have the Evil Dead II Blood Red laserdisc.

I have the Pioneer CLD-D515 player (composite-only), which by itself looks terrible now on my big LCD.

If someone could recommend a reasonably-priced and better-than-usual-quality capture card, I will get it for all my other archiving as well.

I personally own 2 versions of Ghostbusters on LD

Criterion CAV 2 Disc Set, First Printing

Laservision Extended Play Letterbox Release, Mono Compatible

If either of these sets would help create something extremely cool for this project I'd be willing to lend them out.

I love both of these movies and would love to see an "Ultimate" edition of sorts that would cover all the aspects of them.

Cheers

Okay. Im back and Im going to get to work on this. If I could get some contact from anyone interested in working on this and a list of ideas I can start to compile.
