Julian- assuming you're the same person on the HQ boards that was looking for the promo tape from Sony for the 99 DVD, I'm flying home to CO this weekend and will grab my stash of rarities and dub a few DVDs for you. I should have the following:

1) Ghostbusters Spooktacular - Various Videos from the USF Attraction including excerpts from gift shop video

2) RPJ Music Video (with the original John Candy/Jeffrey Tambor/etc. dialogue - not the MTV2 version). Consequently, did you know that the cameos were the reason they couldn't clear the rights on the music video for the proper release? That's why it's harder to come by.

3) 1999 Sony Publicity demo reel for the original 99 DVD release

4) ALL content from the Criterion CAV Laserdisc, second generation (sadly) dubbed onto VHS from the original disc

There might be a couple other tapes there collecting dust that I've completely forgotten about, I'll keep you posted (and post over on the HQ boards too, in case you're frequenting there as well).

Hey Netsolo,
that was me that requested them and sent you a PM on the GB Board. I have all of the Laserdisc Stuff, but the rest sounds a good scoop! If you email me on your return home, we can work out an arrangement.
Cheers buddy!

Julian - How is the project coming along? I think we are going to clash on these releases, so why not team up and make one set out of the best we have between us? PM me if you are interested.

Ah ha- so you and Neil aren't one in the same... I'll drop you both a line after the Memorial Day weekend with my findings, it'll be like digging through the old attic for photos looking for some of these tapes. But I agree that maybe combining efforts would be a good idea? A two-disc end all compilation?

I have been working with Paul from spookcentral on this same thing - including the criterion footage, as well as, SNL sketches, Johnny Carson interview, music videos (with full audio) and much more. Disc has already gone through 2 revisions, I am in the process of working on the 3rd pass to include new items (recent SNL sketch), USF EGB and Beetlejuice live show video.

Okay, back from Colorado and have tons for you guys including:

1) RPJ music video, high quality VHS dub from Much Music 80s Marathon circa 2001. Includes the original cameo performance audio. In addition, I have Paul Rudoff's version from the Vh1 A to Z marathon, but the video's not so great and the last ten seconds of the video are missing.

2) Professional taping of the Ghostbusters Spooktacular Universal Florida show dubbed from USF gift shop video.

3) Beetlejuice and Ghostbusters street show, amateur video capture

4) Original Sunday Night at the Movies presentation of the Ghostbusters feature film. Includes all of the alternate takes and dialogue.

5) Your much and greatly coveted original Sony press tape for the 1999 release of the DVD. TRT 6:09.

What I'll do is dub everything onto one disc (only taking excerpts from the Sunday Night at the Movies feature) and burn you both(?) a disc and print out an index of what's on it. That cool?

I forgot to mention the RPJ video does NOT have any station burn-ins throughout, just at the tails of the video.

Iron Chef Neil vs Iron Chef De! The heat will be on!

Just kidding, I've deferred to Neil for the most part on this project. Neil, did you want me to do any further processing of Netsolo's stuff?

...and your secret ingredient is-- dusty VHS tapes from Netsolo's parents' attic!

Neil- drop me a PM here or on GBHQ with a place to send and I'll try to put this material onto one disc by next week some time for you.

This is going to be more than a 1 DVD set!!

There is a lot of stuff that is getting packed in, some should be forgotten (Weird Al Yankovic inserting himself in the Ray Parkery Jr. "Ghostbusters" music video) and numerous that should never... ghostheads will really enjoy a lot of what is packed in here. - it will either be a dual-layer DVD or multiple DVD's.

Keeping you all in the know - watch this space.

I've probably brought this up before, but: do you intend to include the Cinefex articles on Ghostbusters 1 & 2?

This is something that I havent considered - my friend has every issue of Cinefx, so I may be able to get them from him unless you know of another source?

I don't know of any other source. I have one single issue in storage. When I manage to get some money I plan on collecting them all. I saw the Ghostbusters 2 one on ebay recently and almost bought it thinking I could offer up a scan for this project (which I can't wait to see finished btw).

I would love to help contribute an isolated score (I have the official score CD) but I don't have the NTSC version of Ghostbusters. I also used to have a CD-R of the bootleg score (which might contain material not available on the commercial CD but I doubt it) and unfortunately I don't own the official song soundtrack CD. If I had that CD and the NTSC Ghostbusters I'd love to do an isolated score for you to provide on the DVD as a DVD-ROM extra which people could then author onto backups of their own official Ghostbusters DVDs.

Nice One! I was planning on doing an isolated score, but if you can do it that would be a real helping hand. Only thing I can think of though is that most of my sources are PAL format. I am creating a new commentary, so this would be a great addition to the disc as a seperate audio track.

I have both the bootleg and official score, to my knowledge the bootleg has less than the official, but I may be wrong, will have to look into it.

Correct, the official release actually has more cues than the bootleg "promotional" edition did. Plus it sounds about six hundred times better.

I have the PAL R4 DVD; the first release. I will start work on the isolated score but I really need a CD-R or lossless FLAC files of the official SOUNDTRACK CD. I have the official Varese CD release of the score - what I don't have is the 1980's soundtrack. If somebody can PM me about that then I can do a complete isolated score track.

I'm a huge fan of Ghostbusters and would love a copy of this when it's done.
Any updates on how this is all going.
I just recently bought the Elmer Bernstein Official Score to the film which should be arriving any day soon from Germany.

Here is a little picture of Mr Stay Puft that I also just bought.
